is this hate because Rijkaard brought on that youngin Iniesta in the Champions League final instead of him????????

That is exactly it! Xavi is jealous of Iniesta and still holding a grudge because Frank didn't play him in the final instead after he only tore his ligaments and was out for almost half a year!!!!!!!!!!

I did not say that, but go ahead and jump to conclusions.

all I'm asking is why is he sounding so bitter about Rijkaard? is a possible reason that he's upset at Rijkaard because he didn't even make it off the subsitutes bench in a Champions League final(It would have been his first appearance in a UCL Final) while a 21 year old youngster did??? or is it just because he didn't play as much as he would have liked? or is it possibly because Rijkaard was mean to him 'useless'?

these are all valid questions, so less have a discussion about it.

That's his opinion, how he felt during Rikjaard time. He's entitled to it. We don't know what Rikjaard might have told him, the way he was treated, so I really see no point in debating his opinion. Just to bring up more jealousy supositions? Whatever are Xavi's reasons, unless he tell us, there's no way for anyone here to guess them properly.

he is entitled to his opinion.

I think there is a point in debating it as I've never known Xavi to come across in such a bitter manner before.

and I'm not saying he's jealous of anyone. It's a valid question if as a senior player in a Champions League final, is his bitterness at Rijkaard stemming from the fact that he didn't bring him off the bench at all in what would have been his first Champions League final appeaance while he brought on a 21 year old with so little experience in comparison to him?

To be fair to Rijkaard, when Iniesta came off the bench he showed maturity beyond his years and clearly affected the game and swung it in Barca's favour. Those that remember that final well will know this.

it just sounds weird from Xavi bring up the 1,70m height into it, when Iniesta is the exact same height. Makes you wonder what the hell is he on about?

It's a fair topic to debate, as Xavi is rarely this scathing except for when it comes to Mourinho and his thugs.

Why are you always looking to dig up something negative and feed off it?

I'm not digging anything up.

it was on the barcelona news stream

Fact of the matter is Xavi said that.

Fact is it doesn't sound like Xavi to be coming across like this

so I'm debating it.

Don't see why you are getting so upset.

are we only allowed to talk about everything being all perfect all the time and close our eyes to anything that does not reflect well on one of our players and stick our heads in the sand?

Why Xavi hating on Rijkaard?

"Rijkaard did not believe in me. He wanted our game to be based on a superior physical level. He believed that it was the only way to be at the same level as the top clubs in Europe," "Four or five years ago, I was [deemed] terrible and useless. I was Barca's cancer! A player 1,70m tall was simply impossible."

Deco was better than him at the time, so I don't see what his beef is other than the fact that he was not playing.

Plus, Rijkaard believed in Andres Iniesta and truly gave him his breakthrough, believed in him and trusted him, and he is EXACTLY 1,70m tall!

is this hate because Rijkaard brought on that youngin Iniesta in the Champions League final instead of him????????

we all know Xavi will speak his mind when asked, but he comes across as bitter with those words.

Sorry but I don't get it. whats your new proposed fight?

Xavi vs Deco or Xavi vs Iniesta?

I wouldn't play him against Chelsea. He isn't playing well for some time now. Or let me phrase it like this: he doesn't provide any penetrating passes anymore. Like the one Thiago provided for Tello for example. I'd give Thiago a chance. Looks much fresher, more direct, more daring and more juvenile. He deserves a chance. If he can play against Real, he can play against Chelsea. Xavi on the other hand needs some serious rest after 4 magnificent years for club and country. He's been consistent enough for so many years, it can't go on until retirement.

Hes missing some of his split vision right now, the cut through passes are not there. I hope its just temporarly and not a sign of him getting old :/

This makes it three awful games in a row for Xavi. He's been substituted before the final whistle in all of them. Pep outright said that he was removed against Levante for tactical reasons. While he was excellent against Getafe, his performance against Milan at home was also poor. It's possible that age and injuries are having an effect. IMO, with the Euros coming up, the Copa final and the CL game(s) are the only games in which Xavi should play for the rest of the season.
