So, one of the best, if not the best midfielder ever is leaving for free, ffs not this shit again, can we ever sell a player for actual cash and I'm not talking about Villa peanuts type of deal.
And yeah, I know he, like Villa, Henry, Ronaldinho etc. is on the decline but his name alone is worth a couple of millions (didn't PSG offer like 90M for him a year ago)!

I do not understand some of Barca's managers decisions. However, they know how to earn moneys. I cannot believe that the great era of Barca will end when Puyol, Valdes, Xavi, Fabregas leave. Xavi the best midfielder ever, I cannot imagine Barca matches without him, it is so sad. I do not think that Luis Enrique will find a good Xavi's successor.

Xavi has made the final decision to leave Barcelona this summer. He will announce it in the coming days. He will join a Qatari club. [sport]

off course there will be a successor (Iniesta comes to mind)
just stop thinking the new guy can replace xavi and tiki-taka one on one, that won't happen.

try playing tiki-taka wit eg Koke and it will be a disaster

Iniesta can't play in Xavi's role. Tiki taka is dead for now, lets see what Lucho brings to the team.

You have to know when to sell a player at the right time. Barca could have got good money for Xavi a season or two ago but was unsellable. Alves should have been sold a year or two ago when his value was high, now he's finished.

Exactly this. A lot of people in this forum don't realize that we sell low because we WANT TO OFFLOAD these players in the first place. A lot of other clubs sell high because they don't necessarily want to sell the player that the other club is asking for.

There are some exceptions of course. Thiago comes to mind. Now that was an absolutely idiotic decision by the management.

Ferguson did it countless times for United. Get good money for a player just as he's about to pass his peak and then replace him with someone else he can mould into a star. Beckham and Ronaldo for example. We didn't keep things fresh and neither did Spain.

Still wishing all Xavi rumors are lies, would be gutted not to see him play anymore, such a legend. I wouldn't mind him close to the team another year or so, maybe he'll have the chance to announce his departure at a title celebration.

Btw, this is my 1st post on this forum, so here goes nothing:)

no one can play the way xavi did.
no one can play the way cruyff, pele, zidane or maradona did

it's time fans, players and club accept this and go on.
of course iniesta is the successor and new leader of this team (together with busi, Messi and pique) and Tactics need a complete overhaul. buying Koke, Kroos, ... and force them to play tiki tala only works in fifa14 or football manager. in real life it will be the same as with Cesc if you try that.

Xavi should quit or pick up a few bags of money somewhere. just keeping him to bench him would be an insult imo.

Welcome to the forum !

It is highly probable Xavi's departure is gonna happen as rumoured. You shouldn't keep your hopes up about it.

Xavi leaving is a big loss but it was bound to happen. His influence in the team has been regularly fading away for some time now.

It's time to get rid of the fed-up-with-success players and bring in some fresh blood.
