Could be why he chose to go there. No pressure at all, can kick the ball like he was in school and earn tons of money.

I miss Xavi, seeing Alves wear #6 is weird as hell. Xavi been at Barca's first team ever since I became a fan in the late 90's. Even yesterday after we conceded the 4-2 goal my intial thought was " sub in Xavi for control".
Put prime Xavi in our current team and we would go back to nearly invincible again.

The Xavi that left us was in/close to his mental, technical and tactical prime I am afraid. :(

I still don't buy the story that he was shot or his legs were gone. He might have lost a little bit of explosivity but one thing is fore sure : Xavi , very often, was amongst the players who ran the longest distance on the pitch. He is just, naturally, a medium to slow-paced player.

Yeah it was the best send off for sure and a great way to finish with barca

But he should have stayed with the transfer ban.

I don't buy it either. The reason he left is because he wanted to leave. Maybe he himself felt the difficulty in coping physically with the game, but from a spectator's point of view, Xavi is still easily on the level required for top-flight European football. Still easily among the few best CMs in Europe. Still among our best players on the pitch every time he played. Still a huge presence on the pitch. Still made a huge difference every time he came in from the bench. In football terms, he way to good to be playing anywhere else, especially Qatar. But if what he wanted was to leave, that's understandable. And in a way I'm kind of glad he left when he did, because he got the best possible send-off any athlete could ever ask for. Let's just not kid ourselves that he wasn't up to the task anymore.

The biggest thing that changed in Xavi was that due to the large distance he covers in a match, his body couldn't cope with playing two matches a week. He himself admitted the same. However, he had a VERY important role in the treble, on and off the pitch. Until summer, we haven't adequately replaced him. Unless, somehow someone from La Masia decides to step up.

At the end of the day, playing in Qatar might leave him happy. He mentioned that the club he's going to has youth, which he wishes to work with. And playing in a less-demanding league with much less pressure, while getting paid. And, living in luxury. (like it or not, Qatar is a great place for the rich but not so much for the laborers, etc.)
