I might have missed it last year, did he retire from NT? He could still have a game or two left in him, you know, a couple of minutes here and there.

Pretty bizarre he's playing there, to no one... Really wish he had gone to the MLS.

Might be/probably the reason he went there. Just kick the ball and earn some good bucks without any pressure whatsoever. Without any big fuss being made. He's also getting a preferential treatment there so not a bad deal personally for Xavi.

Point is he's still too damn good for Qatar league. Should have spent a year or two elsewhere first but I guess money decided. A bit disappointing but noone is perfect.

Xavi never struck me as someone who felt much pressure. The MLS would have been perfect for him, very little pressure there for such a big talent...I will always feel bitter about his choice to choose such a shit final destination. With some luck they will lose the World Cup and drop their shitty football project. 2,200 people at his first game ..pfff

Yes, I'm disappointed, too. He could really have had an impact on US soccer, showing today's kids what a top technical player looks like. US soccer has its roots in the awful English hoof & chase tradition, and that's still what most kids get the most exposure to: athleticism, direct long ball in the channels, speed and hustle.
