He didn't deny anything.

Pretty much why I think he is coming. I am conflicted considering the pawn he is likely to play in Bartomeu's power game in the coming election but I do not want to see Valverde at my club for another minute. It's earlier than I would've preferred but I have imagined the day Xavi would one day be returning as coach since his retirement - there are no guarantees on his success but I have no doubt he has all the qualities a cule craves in their ideal coach

Welcome back, I look forward to what he can manage to do with this squad - hopefully there's been a convo with Pep and he has advised him to shift the deadweight

On a side note it is quite impressive how quickly he has picked up English. It caught me off guard listening to his latest press conference.

He seems to be already more proficient than Pep, a man that has been coaching top flight English football for 4 seasons now.

Bortomeu can't get re-elected can he? So story about Xavi being a pawn in his ploy just doesn't hold water.

Yeah because power can't be consolidated by naming your hand picked successor eh? Haven't picked that up from observing politics I guess

It's over , he is not coming. We are stuck with cunt Valverde.

He talks like someone who is indeed in negociation with Barça and try to hide his guilt. Sure Abidal came as a "friend". Since he is talking about next game with his Qatari side, i guess he will complete the season there before joining Barça.

An interesting read about his tenure in Qatar as a coach :

Will he still be a Qatarmarionette in Barca?
Insane if he takes over right away. Insane!
You need alot more then BarcaDNA to be a world class coach.

Xavi needs to do what Pep did with Messi in 2008, dawg.

Clear out the seniors in the dressing room and make Dembouz the focus point of the team.

Cirumstances that pale to when Pep took over

On the pitch, he was bested only by Messi in influencing the results - now we'll get to see how well he can transmit that to his players as a coach

Bad news: Word has it that Xavi’s work in Al-Saad has been mediocre, turning a good team to an underperforming one.

Good news: No one can be worse than Valverde.

1 they were not going to get a great coach during mid-season

2 if Xavi is great they lucked out and if Xavi sucks then good coaches will be available at end of the season Ten Haag Koeman Gallardo maybe even Guardiola

Thats my biggest gripe with your opinion, its all just assumptions while being incredibly self assured.

That's because of patterns in everything in life.

If stats say that 90% of biggest La Masia talents never reach Barca's level, then when we will have a new shiny kid in 2025, what do you think that my first reaction will be?
1. Omg, he is the next big thing
2. Or, he has 90% chances to fail?

Now, since each case is unique, then you have to assess each single player based on 2 factors:
1. 90% of his peers will fail
2. Assess his skills
If a certain kid looks way better than all other similar cases during years, then his chances go up to 20-30% to make it.
If he looks the same as all other similar talents through years, then it is fair to rate his chances at 10%.
If he looks even worse than similar talents over years, his chances are even lower than the average (lower than 10%).

Of course, here and there some player will always break the odds and maths.
But in general, if you'll play the odds game, you will be right in a vast majority of cases.
Stats and history exist for a reason.

Regarding Xavi, let's take a look at the Barca's coaches in the last 20-25 years:
Pep, more leader than Xavi
Rijkaard, more leader than Xavi
Lucho, more leader than Xavi
Van Gaal, very stubborn guy in a different way.
Crujff, a leader and a charismatic guy

Who was bad to average at Barca?
Tito, a nice guy
Tata, a nice guy
Charlie Rexach, extremely nice guy, loved by everyone
Serra Ferrer, very nice grandpa who never fights
EV, a nice guy, a pushover

You can do the same for majority of European teams.
Who were the best coaches over years?
Pep, Klopp, Zidane, Capello, Ferguson, Mou.

From Xavi, I am getting Wenger/Tito vibes.

So, you will rarely find nice guys as leaders/coaches of top clubs since they have to make drastic decisions, clash with egos, bench top players.
And nice guys usually aren't good in tough and chaotic moments, in arguing and doing drastic measures.

So, when you ask me about Xavi, when you analyze history, odds, his psychological profile, his friends playing for Barca, a chaotic situation with our bad board and sportung directors, then the odds are astronomically against Xavi.

Again, football and coaching is way more than TikiTaka and nice off the ball movement.
