Bad news: Word has it that Xavi’s work in Al-Saad has been mediocre, turning a good team to an underperforming one.

Good news: No one can be worse than Valverde.

I doubt Al-Saad are actually that good of a team. Besides, he has a 56% win.... that's not too bad at all. He'll have much better players to work with at Barcelona.

Let's see if people will want another managerial change in the summer if Xavi fails to impress. Hoping Xavi has a ruthless streak in him and is willing to cut loose some of the older players.

He did say our player transfer policy been dog bubu for a long time, so hopefully that means he is ready to make some big changes. Praying..

I remember 2 summers ago when he said Jean-Michael Seri had what it took to be a Barca player. Most Barca fans also wanted Seri instead of Paulinho.
Now look at Seri, playing for Galatasaray on loan from Fulham.

Hoping Xavi just gave a complimentary answer to a question instead of that being his true opinion.

I avoid caution with Xavi. Especially with time and the state of the club. Not to mention to mention internal politics. This will be a major one. First of these issues being “club de amigos” Xavi still played with significant portion o do th e te team so he does does get picked I wonder what he will do regarding them. Will he play them, will he offload them another team, favoritism? Huge question mark there. The second is the board, they will clash...they will clash. I don’t see Xavi being a yes man but I into see the board giving Xavi much freedom. But I also don’t see a good PR for the board if they’re do clash given Xavi status among the fans.

Not to mention Xavi’s mangering. His current tactics, his current performance with a team of players in a lower league, host philosophy regarding youth and inexperienced players. Can he handle egos? Multiple superstars?

But in general, if you'll play the odds game, you will be right in a vast majority of cases.
Stats and history exist for a reason.

And theres exactly zero insight in that approach. I can say that every talent will fail here and would be right in 90% of cases - as you said. Hooray! But at some point you have to commit, everything else would be shallow. That doesnt mean you have to think that the likes of Bartra, Samper, Denis and so on will most likely succeed (I never saw anything in them for example), but talents like Arthur have a very good chance at the very least.

As for Xavi: neither of us (or anyone for that matter) can know how things will evolve. You are full of yourself if you think you can predict whether someone will be a good coach by sorting them into binary categories (like being nice-mean). You cant be that thick. You may make an educated guess how things go, but you should seriously reconsider being so unrelenting.

I for one look forward to how things are in a year or two: I would rather have the uncertainty with Xavi than the dullness of Valverde.

Before he always said positive things about Barca. Now his tone has changed. Probably closer to reality.

A bit worried about getting Xavi as our coach right now. I feel that he is the kind of guy that will never drop the likes of Busi, Pique and Suarez. He can be stubborn as hell and I’m pretty sure he said not that long ago that those guy are the best players in their position. Not to mention that it was written yesterday that Pique and Busi were among the players contacting Xavi asking him to come now. Could potentially become more club de amigos than ever now.

If he can make the ruthless decisions needed within the squad I don't care how poor the results are (within reason of course), we either get a manager complacent in allowing the squad rot to continue which damages the club for years or someone changes things up and sets us up for a better few years.

Dropping Suarez is not realistic for this season. There's no replacement. He is the best what we got.. We need to drop him for next season.

Busi I am the most worried about. He is not good for modern football or current Barca.

Guys look at the bright side. Valverde had to go post Liverpool. His time was done since that game and it's obvious to anyone that we are crap this season. We create very few chances (somebody said we take as many shots as Norwhich and Southampton lol, teams who have a tiny fraction of the possession we have), and the defence is crap, compared with that of our rivals, Atletico and Madrid.

And when exactly is he ready? There are absolutely no metrics what makes a coach succeed. You can have twenty years experience and dont work out. Its all about how he clicks with the club and players. And you will only know that when you risk it.

We will hopefully rebuild our team next season and for that I would prefer Xavi over Ten Haag, Koeman, and half a dozen other guys (including Klopp). I want a coach who stands for Barcelona.

Then get him for next season.
Xavi will get midway in the season, with unrealistic philosophy that made his defense shit. Now he will have to deal with shit defense, midway in the season (while we are still top of the league) with expectations of winning abd being next Pep. He won't have pre-season to prepare, he won't have his own signings and the list goes on and on.
There is no guarantee that he will be success in this half season and would stay for next one, we are setting him for failure and he is used to save the face of the board.

Nobody expects him to win anything this season. Most realistic fans have given this season for dead. So at least he gets to use these 6 months to really feel the team and make the adjustments so we can approach the next season with what should be our main objective: win La Liga, playing nice football, and competing for CL.

It is a good chance for Xavi imo. He can have a look at the squad and really asses the situation, to know what he needs to do in the summer. Maybe he wants a player and we go for Lautaro. Maybe he wants a different type of midfielder, like a younger Vidal. Maybe he wants to give Todibo a chance and he no longer goes on loan.
