Yeah, been team Xavi in this comparison but at the end of the day, they are different players, and we're talking here about icons of the game that belong in the all time best CM and best AM discussions.

I hope people will realize we won't ever see anything like those Barca teams having these two and Messi at their peak simultaneously. A bit like the Bulls and their dinasty that won't ever be witnessed again for entire generations of fans.

I have some games from that era saved on HDDs like the Godfathder, Titanic, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, Aliens, The Terminator 1 & 2, and other milestone films of that nature. It's a piece of popular culture.

Love them both, Iniesta had the magic dribbling ability but Xavi was the metronome to everything Barca and Spain did during that period of football.

Xavi I remember being great vs us at the Bernabeu when we played Spain in a friendly back in like 2004, only back then a 5 ft 6 technical midget wasn't deemed fashionable for a centre midfielder nor was possession football in general.

He really played no different than he did years later under Luis Aragones and Pep.

Xavi was the icon, the heart of Spain's playing style that dominated the world from 2008-12. Iniesta second.

But Xavi had chance to be the protagonist, Iniesta didn't, he mostly served as a supporting role. I wonder what if their roles were reversed.

XAVI ain't dominating SHIT without INIESTA

Remove Xavi from the Spain squad and they would have been 0/3 from 2008-2012.

Remove Iniesta and they would have atleast 1/3, most likely 2/3.

Silva and Fabregas could have replaced Iniesta in those teams, but no player could have done what Xavi did.

They'd be 2/3 without one of the other.

Xavi owns 08.
They are obviously now winning 10 without Iniesta's big D energy.

12 they were both great, Iniesta throughout, and Xavi was on some different things drugs in the final, ended any debate about Pirlo being close to him.

Silva or Fabregas replacing iniesta might just be the most laughable thing i have ever read on this forum
Good work lil bro

Laughable is thinking Iniesta was as crucial as Xavi. There is a reason Spain and Barca fell of as soon as Xavi declined.

Also I said they could replace Iniesta in some capacity, but for Xavi there is no replacement. Silva and Fabregas are much closer to Iniesta profile and quality wise than they are to Xavi.

Barca fell off when iniesta declined.
Cut it out.
i dont even know why i am arguing with someone who thinks FABREGAS was as good as iNIESTA or seven similiar.

Not exactly, even when Iniesta had his best season (according to many 2012-13) Xavi was declining and Barcelona was so shaky and poor in that season. Due to Xavi’s decline.

Simply speaking, Xavi was the base and offered stability. Iniesta offered that little extra on top of that. What Xavi did nobody else could come close to doing, not even Iniesta could drop down and replace him with ease. What Iniesta did was magical and nobody could do his job either, but players would be closer to replacing him than they could Xavi. Xavi off the ball movement also underrated.

I usually avoid choosing between them. Iniesta was my personal favourite but if I absolutely had to choose, I'd rank Xavi like 0.1 points higher.

Xavi was the cake, Iniesta the icing. An anology for you fatties out there.

We won the league by 15 points that year.

100 points
Madrid 85

And got to the CL SF, lost badly to bayern.

But a league title by 15 points and CL SF, isn't shaky.
