Simply speaking, Xavi was the base and offered stability. Iniesta offered that little extra on top of that. What Xavi did nobody else could come close to doing, not even Iniesta could drop down and replace him with ease. What Iniesta did was magical and nobody could do his job either, but players would be closer to replacing him than they could Xavi. Xavi off the ball movement also underrated.

I usually avoid choosing between them. Iniesta was my personal favourite but if I absolutely had to choose, I'd rank Xavi like 0.1 points higher.

Xavi was the cake, Iniesta the icing. An anology for you fatties out there.

15 point league win and a CL SF appearance, can never be classified as shaky.

Messi has been saving us since the day he first appeared, if we use that, then nothing Iniesta or Xavi did is relevant.

We also won a treble with Iniesta after Xavi.

Our CL title under rijkaard Iniesta was also more important than Xavi.

I defended Xavi a few days back, now I'm defending Iniesta, because anyone trying to shade these two guys need to be corrected.

Yeah, been team Xavi in this comparison but at the end of the day, they are different players, and we're talking here about icons of the game that belong in the all time best CM and best AM discussions.

I hope people will realize we won't ever see anything like those Barca teams having these two and Messi at their peak simultaneously. A bit like the Bulls and their dinasty that won't ever be witnessed again for entire generations of fans.

I have some games from that era saved on HDDs like the Godfathder, Titanic, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, Aliens, The Terminator 1 & 2, and other milestone films of that nature. It's a piece of popular culture.

The crazy part is that with these 2, the midfield battle was already over before the game began. Even the biggest clubs decided to park the bus instead of going head to head versus these 2 in midfield (supported by False 9 Messi and Busquets in possession).

Not even Modric or Kroos had this sort of fear factor, despite also being all time greats.

Just an unbelievable aura.
