Knowing that Lucho started Douglas against Malaga, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts Mats tomorrow.
It would also mean:
-- players, don't even try
-- no matter how well you play, you will always be benched when a star player comes back
-- so, your effort or results/stats doesn't matter
-- it is all about names and who is a better player on the paper
I know, people will now say:
"But Bravo didn't play well at all, he is just lucky"
Let's be honest:
= even if Bravo was awesome, the best, Motm in the last 6 matches, and if he made 30 huge saves till now, people would still say: "Ok, he was very good, but now let's move on and play our Mats. He is the one whom we want. If Bravo did that, Mats will be even better."
So, honestly, it is irrelevant if Bravo was a crap, an average or a Goat.
People have chosen their favorite and that's it.
Once again, I also prefer Mats over Bravo, but you just can't bench Bravo in this moment.
It is just not fair and not right. Not only towards Bravo, but towards the whole team and sportsmanship.
Mats career is not over.
It is still only a September of his first Barca's season.
Luis Enrique kind of confirmed that he will start tomorrow.
Makes no sense to start a player with no match fitness in a very important match. Bravo is the starter until he no longer deserves it, and as a professional athlete ted Stegen must understand that it was only by an injury that kept him out of the starting lineup. It's no hard feelings to anyone really.
And what makes Bravo deserve to be a starter ? These clean sheets mean shit. It's not like he's the reason for them.
MAtS is starting. So it looks like it's bravo for the league, MAtS for the UCL. Hope he does well, the lack of rhythm could be a problem.
