We should've signed the guy and loaned him to Borussia for another season. He is clearly one of the most talented keepers in Europe, his price tag will definitely rise up by next summer. Unless there is some secret deal, which is very unlikely, we are just shafting ourselves.

His contract is up in 2015 so I doubt it goes unless he renews his contract

Cause he is Catalan and 'knows the club', why else? its compeletely unlogical for a big club like Barca to sign a keeper like him, he would be fine as a second keeper but from the looks of thinsg he would have been our first goalkeeper this season had Valdes left and will be our first keeper next year.

Reina's not catalan, he was born in madrid. It's because he is from la masia.

For a backup option, Reina is solid. I don't think (read: hope) that he'll come as our first choice goalkeeper.
We don't know if Reina has the mentality of being a second goalkeeper, especially in this Pinto role that gets pretty limited time. Maybe we would have unstable performances from him if thats the case. I wouldn't like him here if he doesn't accepts being the second.

Would be enough time for Gladbach to find a successor, but its unusual for a German high profile player to change clubs in winter moving to a new league in a WC year.

Out of the blue, Löw recently started to consider Weidenfeller as a GK option after ignoring him for ages. Coincidence?

I don´t know but Weidenfeller has been the best German GK since 2012. Amazing displays.

Yes, but he usually doesn't change his opinion of players - just take Kießling, whom he never calls up for anything, or Podolski, whom he has played regardless of his current (bad) form .

Some players are holy cows in certain NT. Kießling was the top scorer and doesn´t get a chance?

He hasn't been called up since 2010. Löw indicated that Kießling isn't good enough for bigger tournaments (where "the air gets thinner than in the Bundesliga") and said he prefers Gomez and Klose. Even when Klose was injured, he didn't call him up. Plus, he recently said he didn't want to give Kießling hope by calling him up for one game when he can't promise playing him in any big tournament. And implied he was too old, which is funny considering Klose's age. Kießling even said at one point that if he was called up, he wouldn't accept the offer anymore. Löw is like that. Same happened with Kuranyi.

And it was the same with Weidenfeller, until recently. Which is a surprise.
