That seems to be what the board prefers. Even new players brought in are either 30 already or close to it.

Not the case.
Plenty of players in early to mid twenties brought in especially if you include promoted b players. Far more than players of 30 yrs.

We've bought Mathieu, Vermaelen, Turan, and Bravo as reinforcements for positions that we already have aging players in. Once Mascherano starts to decline Vermaelen and Mathieu won't be able to replace them, and once Iniesta slows down Arda likely won't be very far behind him. This as well is when our defense especially has been in desperate need of reform for some time only for us to find ourselves using the exact same defense because our new signings aren't nearly as good and they're so old they don't have the potential to even take the reigns when our current duo can no longer perform.
I wasn't trying to imply we only buy older players, just that our choices on where to sign them is poor.

Matthieu and Vermaelen were bought to provide experienced options for squad depth. So to is Turan really. Bravo is not old for a keeper.
Also bought the likes of Rakitic, Douglas, Vidal, Alba, Ter Stegen, Neymar etc while promoting to squad the likes of Barta, Roberto, Rafinha, Munir, Sandro etc.
Most players brought into the squad have been in early twenties. Some in their peak years of late twenties and a couple older players who were requested by Lucho specifically for their experience..

If Ter Stegen wants to go 27m is a great price really. We are talking about a back up keeper for now.

And what happens when Bravo is injured or his form deteriorates? We rely on Masip and scramble to find another world class goalkeeper?

No we buy a better back up than Masip for much less than 27m.
In Jan could be difficult but if they offer 27m in the summer I'd take it if he wants to leave.
