I wonder what his options are that are so much better than playing CdR and CL with Barça, and winning.

Is it so much better to play in a smaller club and league, and have marginally more matches?

yes

EDIT: Although not "marginally", but a lot more matches

This was never mentioned before but how about a 50:50 in play time with Bravo? They can alternate on Liga, Copa and UCL. Bravo-Mats-Bravo-Mats on all games next season. EQUAL play time and both have chances to play all competitions.

How? Impossible to actually please 2 gk's like that. This current setup wouldn't last long. A shame, as it benefitted the club. But so far Bravo is quieter about it, while those interviews with MAtS keep popping up every other week. I don't want him to go, but I'm getting annoyed, tbh.

Basically that. To me it looks basically as if Ter Stegen doesn't want to be in a tandem anymore. It benefits the club, but not the goalkeepers. Those setups just don't work for that long, it's just a matter of time until someone says "play me properly or let me go". He doesn't mean it personal to the club or to Bravo, but this is simply not what he expected here and this leads to a pretty uncomfortable situation for anyone.

How does it not benefit the keepers when both have been playing excellently?

I'm starting to have more and more respect for this guy. He's competitive and he believes in himself which is important, specially for a keeper. Also his 'dont f*** with me to Alves on the bench shows he's the real deal! r-e-s-p-e-c-t!.

Anyway seems like he believes he is worldclass therefor sitting 2 years on the bench for Bravo is a lot to ask from him. Having him sit two more years would be absurd for him. Remember this is not Johnatan dos Santos, this is actually a world class keeper.

That being said, I think Bravo is doing an unexpectively great job and I still want to see him in top 11. Perhaps loaning him for two seasons (like Chelsea loaned Courtois to Atl. Madrid) would be ideal for both sides. Barca and TS cos in the future I want him to be here.

So does Bendtner believe he is world class. Mats got his chance and lost his cool. He still needs to mature a little

Yes, he was signed with the premise of being a starting goalkeeper, and the decision from Barca to not keep that promise and make a Cl/CDR vs La Liga tandem was already decided before the gseason was evenunderway. He was only injured for a couple of weeks, not a whole season.
Barca got Bravo, a goalkeeper that costed just as much as him, and was just as rated as him. From the first minute he was signed everyone knew already that this isn't just any any back-up, but that they are actually going for 2 goalkeepers instead of one, to see who comes out on top. Do you think Ter Stegen was particularly happy with hearing about his signing just weeks after arriving with hopes at the club?

How did you know that?

I don't see why people are worried Lucho might remain stubborn and not switch it around.

It's pretty clear ter Stegen thinks it's worth going two steps down for the sake of his own career. He won't develop at the rate he should as a GK if he doesn't play week in and out.

Obviously staying and winning trophies at Barca is awesome, but for some people, their own development matters more than glory hunting some medals at the cost of your full potential and I actually think it's commendable.

The easy thing would be staying here, winning some trophies with the best players in the World.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that or why it is relevant "how they play". They're most definitely not benefitting from getting fewer gametime, hence why MatS here is complaining in the first place.

Because that's when they signed a goalkeeper that is as good as Ter Stegen despite the latter being out injured for only 2 matchdays. I don't buy someone as only a backup, if he's actually as good or even better than the one I initially went for.

I completely agree. The Barca fan in me is annoyed he is saying this in public and thinks he should be happy with winning trophies but then the human in me understands why he wants to play every single week.

If push comes to shove, we should loan him out like Chelsea did with Courtouis. Bravo is turning 33 next month. At best he has another 3-4 yrs left. At worst another 1-2 yrs at the top.

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??

Bravo is quiet because he can lose everything, he's old and he knows that he came to barca as a solid backup so ofc now he must be very happy even if he's not playing in cl.
Mats on the other hand wants to play more, he's young and unsatisfied and if playing as the undisputed n1 means a move to liverpool or atletico or dortmund he will take it.
