Nothing of this makes him a ''great'' GK.

Barcelona under Pep Guardiola was usually that dominant that Valdes wasn't under any sort of real pressure, especially with defending set-pieces. Guardiola developed a great tactics to minimize dangers of having short players and trash GK in terms of dealing with football when in air. His ONLY job was basically saving a 1 on 1 chance from time to time and it's not like Barca were giving a lot of those. We've seen what are his real qualities when teams actually started to dominatee Barcelona this past season. Can't rush from his goal line to save his life, tends to let in A LOT of soft goals and is often out of his position, can't play with his legs very well for shit despite some Barca fans claiming it's his greatest quality.

As I said, you'll see how good Valdes actually is once he is out of Barcelona and playing for some lower level club because there is no way any serious CL contender will come for him.

Whether he is really gr8 or not is another story ,the achievements and the numbers will ensure he will be remembered as one of all time greatest GKs in the history of the team

Anyone that can hold down the number one spot for almost 10 years at Barca a team who is always looking to be the best team in the Europe must be doing something right

He is most certainly a Barca legend regardless of what others say, came in and kicked out Rustu who was still a decent GK back then and also ensured that we had a good reliable GK for the first time since Zubi had left us.

Rusto was a One World Cup Wonder. That's all. He was never Barca material and his purchase was just stupid. But knowing how many stupid decisions the board used to make at the time singing him was not much surprising.

We made so many good signing back then ,that was Laporta first year and they made many gr8 signings like Ronaldinho & Marquez ,Rustu came for a free transfer ,he was probably better than Bonano ,It wasn't a bad deal tbh

It was a bad deal because Barca signed Rusto to be the first choice GK, which was stupid considering only one good world cup was mostly behind this decision.

The only good thing about the Rustu transfer was that it was a free transfer. He was a good keeper, but I never expected him to do well out of his comfort zone of Turkey.

Valdes will leave this summer. To avoid that an injury blocks a transfer, he'll only play another game for Barcelona if totally fit. [ara]

Great news if true..I really don't want him to stay for another season after saying he wants to leave. It just wouldn't make sense.
Now let's just hope we don't sign Reina.
