As the guy from Finland said he hasn't been watching Messi and the seleccion under Sabella who has got them functioning as a team. Even Diego during his heyday (and he is still in my mind the best still although Messi's advances in setpiece taking are challenging him in that area too) and in 1986 relied on a pair of no nonsense defenders like Ruggieri and Brown and a hard working and creative midfield in Batista and Enrique not to mention two outlets to distract the opposition in Burruchaga who was excelling with Nantes in France at the time and Valdano in Spain.

People think that Diego won the WC in 86. He was the special extra added ingredient to provide moments actually periods of magic that overwhelmed the opposition but the rest of the team were no charlatans.
