Theoretically as soon as he leaves to play in Russia he will no longer be considered the best player in the world (at the moment), he will not win any personal rewards (ballon dor, golden shoe..), his 15 million a year endorsements deals (adidas, herbalife, turkish airlines...) will be cut to smaller deals, so money wise its not as good as some might think.

He's not going anywhere for god's sake, He stated on numerous occasions that he want to end his career at barca, Or in Argentina.

Pichi Alonso - "I played with Maradona, and Messi is a lot better: scores more, more a team player, physically stronger..."

That's very informative picture. You can just see that when Messi enters the 20 yard range all hell breaks loose on opponents defense.

Impressive graphic, definitely...Although perhaps it's not readily discernible, it also illustrates Leo's predisposition for that left side

I suppose if you're defending against Messi, it's best to try & force him wide right

It's not possible to force a player to play on a specific side.
And messi actually thrives on being on the right side, He started playing there in the last years of rijkaard, After initially being on the left, The idea was to cut defenses into the middle more easily, And then use his left foot to shots onto the goal.
This video is filled with such an examples, 2:38 is the best possible example, It's a great video:

There's no need to explain. Absolutely no one on this forum thinks Messi would leave for Russia.

Imagine he leads Argentine to the WC trophy 2014, quits at Barca and signs for Newells? Would be classy...

And he can still play 2–3 World Cups after it. He is 31 in 2018 and 35 in 2022 (Maradona was 34 in 1994, Zidane 34 in 2006). Oldest player in FWC was 42, Roger Milla, so 2026 (Messi 39) is not impossible.
