Messis old contract was 9.5M + bonuses for trophies, games, goals etc. The new contract is 11M + bonuses of up to 5M. So if he plays the maximum amount of games, scores enough goals and we win all trophies the highest he can get is 16M from Barca.

About the buyout, lets be real, Messi is worth not more than 130M, Tristiano less than 100M because of his age.

So they raised his contract with only 1,5 milion euros ?

Do you have any source on this cause it seems fake.

Messi is worth not more than 130M

:rofl1:

Why exactly is he not worth more than that? He's 25, breaks all-time records left and right, and can play pretty much anywhere in the attack that you need him to.

If past his prime Cronaldo is worth 100M, couple years from his prime Messi is worth at least twice than that.

Tristiano is more marketable so he will sell more shirts, Messi is a Barcelona product, never played anywhere else so he will have to adapt while Tristiano is good from day one. Messi is 2 years younger.

With all above taken into account the difference between the two shouldn't be more than 50M.

With the January transfer window round the corner Brazilian sports business consulting firm Pluri Consultoria have put together the list of world football’s MVP.
Although there is bound to be some debate over the valuations – the fact Messi is valued as worth around €55 million more than Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to irk some –it is an interesting talking point about the true value of the best players from around the world.

1. Lionel Messi, Barcelona – €140 million
2. Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid – €96.6 million
3. Andres Iniesta, Barcelona - €68.4 million
4. Wayne Rooney, Manchester United - €60.2 million
5. Radamel Falcao, Atletico Madrid - €56.1 million

Messi is priceless because he is irreplaceable. Even if the club got 300 million and bought Hummels, Neuer, Thiago Silva, Falcao, and Aguero; it still wouldn't be the same without Messi. Not to mention, Messi is one of the most widely recognizable athletes in the world and helps the Barcelona brand tremendously. I think he's in like the top 15 most well known athletes in the U.S. even though some Americans say that nobody here watches European football.

That guy clearly doesn't know what's talking about if he put Rooney at #4. And that Ibra is #36, despite netting everywhere he went... Di Maria is number 12...

Nani is 35.9 million...

Dzeko worth more than Xavi... :rofl1:

Anyway, do you really think Messi will have to adapt? Take two recent Spanish transfers; Cazorla and Michu. They started blazing it up pretty much since day one; Messi is better than both of them rolled up together. He can play anywhere in the attacking midfield, as a winger, and obviously as a striker; it would take him two weeks at the most to adapt to a system.

Messi only 20M more than Cristiano? and you believe shit like that?
since when transkermarket has the final word on a player's value?

Plus, you just have to walk around any major city and see how many Cristiano shirts you see on people compared to the Messi ones.
Messi is far more popular than Cristiano becuase he is more succesful and more likeable character.

And then you say Messi has not played anywhere else so he is not proven? A genius plays anywhere, either you are a madridista or you are trolling big time

The real value is of messi is 'Unknown' or 'x', Whatever number you put on him, It'll be just for the sake of doing business, What i mean is, It's not possible to know how much messi is really worth, Just who is the one willing to pay the most, Because he is a different type of player, Something the transfer market never had dealt with before.

I think I read before that his bonus objectives are ones he is almost guaranteed to reach, for example playing 65% of Barca's games.

Cristiano is more marketable than Messi? Total Myth. Why did EA then try so hard to get Messi for their cover for Fifa when they already had Cristiano?
