How come Marca have Messi down with 36 goals when he's actually scored 37? Was it that goal sometime in December when the defender slid in and took it into his own net? They're actually being dickheads if it is.

Yeh, the one that clearly cannoned off of Pepe's back, the one they're not giving for Messi was debatable. Spanish goal commitee gave it, why they being so different? Dickheads.

Yeah even if they won't count Messi's next 5 goals he's still ahead of Ronaldo. They discounted 1 goal from Messi as if Ronaldo is so close to Messi. It doesn't make a difference at all. Lol

Yup, it was the game against Athletic Bilbao... Even the ref and RFEF credit the goal to Messi, but Marca said it was an own goal, hahahaha...

Just wrote this up. Don't know where else to post it.

It has been an excruciatingly long ten months for the world’s best player and quite possibly the best to ever play the game. After demolishing German side, Bayer Leverkusen, and dispatching AC Milan; Barcelona faced unlikely semi-final competition in Roberto Di Matteo’s Chelsea. A Chelsea side nobody expected to be in the semi-finals after the sacking of Portuguese manager, André Villas-Boas, along with the woeful form of 50 Million pound Striker, Fernando Torres.

In usual fashion, Barcelona dominated possession and created all the chances but to no avail as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge thanks to Didier Drogba’s single goal. Sandwiched in between the two Chelsea clashes was El Clásico. With Barcelona within reach of Real Madrid, it could have been a a season changing victory. Ronaldo’s 73rd minute goal to give Real Madrid a 1-2 lead that they never relinquished proved to be the final blow to Barcelona’s title aspirations.

With La Liga now out of reach, Messi and Barcelona hoped to eliminate Chelsea to possibly exact revenge on Real Madrid in what would have been an historic clash in the Champions League final. After a bright start; Barcelona conceded a vital away goal from Ramires' goal at the end of the first half. Needing another goal, Barcelona pushed forward. After a Drogba trip on Cesc Fabregas, it was Messi’s time to shine. The world’s best player with all the spotlight on him to take the penalty. Clank. Messi rattled the crossbar and the collective hearts of millions of Barcelona fans around the world were sent into despair. Chelsea held on for dear life and with determination, grit, a bit of luck, and a spectacular performance from Petr Cech; knocked out the Catalan giants.

In the 10 months that have followed, Messi has done the unthinkable and set the bar even higher than the previous season. Dazzling fans with a hat trick against Brazil, leading Argentina to the top of world cup qualifying, wowing fans with his new and improved free kick abilities including 2 in Clasicos, breaking many more records including Gerd Muller’s goals in a calendar year, and pushing Barcelona to what is an almost insurmountable lead atop La Liga; Messi has shown that he has not forgotten that disappointing night of April 24th, 2012 where he did his best to drag a Barcelona missing several key players due to injury into the Champions League final but to no avail.

So now we wait with Barcelona’s Round of 16 first leg vs AC Milan just hours away. The question we are all asking ourselves is “What will the Argentine wizard do next?”

Surely, Messi will be as motivated as ever as he replays the image of hitting the woodwork not once but twice vs Chelsea. I, like many millions of fans around the globe, will be tuning in to hopefully see a magical Messi performance as he begins the road of the knockout stages to recapture Champions League glory.

Last year they insisted that Messi only had 90 because of Alexis Sanchez' "goal" that was given to Messi.
