OK, again I am with you in terms of Ronaldo doing better than Messi in 2014. But again, you are still not telling me why he was doing MUCH better (by a distance) as you claimed.

To me Ronaldo was better but not much better. His team was overall better and won the CL, which benefits his BD case tremendously.

Well, that's just my opinion buddy, we are all allowed one. Not just Ronaldo though, I'd even say an handful of players deserve it over Messi. Suarez (who I hate) and Neur, who has been flawless, are the two certainties in my eyes.

Ronaldo did not deserve it last year,he deserves it this year.At least thats what I think. There were so many games where messi played like a statue in big important games.

Wrong at what? You should start reading the conversation fully, before claiming anything. I don't think Messi deserves the bdor. I'm just stating that the media claim of cr having a much better year is bogus. Because it is. They're pretty much tied.

Almost tied if you ignore the fact Ronaldo played seven less games and in the bigger games produced more than Messi did.

Ronaldo did clearly have the better year but Messi is still the better player.

whilst Ronaldo has played better than he ever has.

This is absolutely false, Cristina hasn't been playing better than previous seasons, the thing is Messi dropped his level below Cristina's, not that Cristina improved and surpassed Messi... On top of that the campaign from the media and RM has greatly exaggerated Cristiano's accolades in the last two years...

With that said, the ladyboy surely has had a way better overall season than Messi and probably deserves to be ahead of him in the voting, but in no way he has been this out of this world football machine people are making him out to be... Not to take away anything from him, but Cristina has not become a better player, he has been able to keep a relative good form throughout the last few seasons, which is an amazing feat on it's own right...

And you say you're unbiased?

Sorry, I know I am biased torward Messi, but cr at his peak is nowhere near Messi at his. That's just absurd to say. Messi didn't only edged it, he was really superior to any other player.

Only on Barca forums is it so clear cut. Most fans have those two way above everyone else, albeit with Messi ahead, but certainly not by as much as you obviously think.

That's not a slight on Messi though. I remeber when United played Barca in 2011 CL final, I was absolutely petrified of Messi. He's probably the best player ever at his peak. I just so happen to think Ronaldo is also one of the best ever.

Sure, this is not North Korea after all.

Again, Messi has become a victim of his own success. As long as he doesn't reach that insane level that he is known for, people think he is having a bad year. Oh well.

And in the wc Messi was much better. Instrumental to argentina reaching the final. It evens out. cr won titles, and beat the record of scoring in the cl. That makes him worthy of the bdor. I don't think Messi is. But claiming his year was that much superior to Messi's is not true. Had argentina won the wc final, the discussion would be different. Fine margins.

When cr, or any other player, reaches Messi's form in 2012, with 91 goals and superb overall play, I'll agree with you. Unti then, cr is still far from reaching the heights Messi reached. The best cr is doing is reaching Messi's lowest level in years.

I agree if Messi had won the World Cup it would be different... but he didnt. It was there for him to go out and do but in all honesty he was poor in the knock out stages after the Belgium game.

Ronaldo deserves it and did have the better year in terms of titles, goals/assists in biggest games.

How much better he was is irrelevant really. He was just better overall.

I don't think Messi has had a bad year. He's been good...even very good still. However, that doesn't cut it these days if you want to win the Ballon d'Or.

You say you don't like to discuss the previous awards, but cr didn't do anything worthy of winning the bdor for the year of 2013. Still, he had help from the corrupted reopening of votes to get him the win.
Why not re-open the votes for Messi breaking 2 major records? I'm just joking, but this is what this award has become. Messi won his on the pitch. Cr won his first on the pitch too. But not his second.

Putting way too much stock into volume stats. Volume stats that say Cristiano had the bulk of his scoring in the UCL vs the mighty Galatasaray, Copenhagen and Shalke. (10 goals) After the quarterfinals, Cristiano had 4 goals, all being the last goals of games already decided. Last goals vs Dortmund in a 3-0 victory. Last 2 goals vs Bayern in a 5-0 aggregate victory, one coming in stoppage time. Last goal vs Atletico in the final, in aggregate time of double extra time, from a penalty, in a 4-1 victory. Don't think he had any assists in these games either.

Cristiano also had 4 games in La Liga vs Barca and Atletico and only scored twice, and 1 was a penalty from a foul outside the box. You're big game narrative is a bit lacking in perspective.
