He won one lliga trophy. It's a major one.
Yeah I was going to say that, but that 1 La Liga doesn't erase all his short-comings these past 6 years.

Hopefully Barsa makes sure his short-comings keep on coming, what will the excuse be if he doesn't win anything major this year? But but Madrid isn't as stacked as Barsa:VdB:

Yeah trophies dont matter when the point of discussion is the all-time La Liga topscorers list.
That's why I said individually speaking, it is impressive.

But he can keep his individuality all to himself, while Barsa wins La Liga (once again) and hopefully the CL

I don't know exactly.

Even if you do end up finding a penalty stat that says Ronaldo scores more penalties than Messi, remember that it doesn't tell you how many penalties Messi missed. It's also a skill to score penalties, and you can't just dismiss it.

People think that Messi is not good at penalties but it's just that he's not completely amazing at them. He's still quite good at them. Ronaldo is just the best in the world at taking penalties. Also, Real Madrid win WAY more penalties than Barcelona so Ronaldo has like 10 to 15 more goals from penalties than Messi since he came to Real Madrid but only like 4 or 5% better percentage.

According to every bayern bandwagonist Barca is the weakest its been since 07-08 and Real are much better than us now so Ronaldo should have no problem with a treble

But messi has 5x so many assists or even more!!!

Yeah no. Messi's got 59 assists in La Liga since 09-10 and Ronaldo has 44 assists. Not as big of a difference as you're making out. Still irrelevant to our top scorer list discussion.

Don't get me wrong, Ronaldo's individual achievements at Madrid are phenomenal. I'm just saying that he isn't as "on par" with Messi as what's being made out by those numbers. Penalties are a skill, but when they're rewarded so often and are so insignificant, they simply are stat padding goals.

How are penalties any worse than a first time 5 yard finish, a rebound goal or a far post tap in? It's still not an easy skill, and it's one where Messi is not as good as Ronaldo.

And I don't understand what you mean by penalties are insignificant.

Except that coming to a new league and a new team and beasting it up from day one is no mean feat. He also plays on a worse team than Messi. It's incredible that he's so close to matching Messi and when it's all said and done, it will be impressive to say the least for him to be number 2 on an all-time La Liga topscorers list.

Huh? Ronaldo came to la liga in his prime and into the worlds most expensive team. This whole going to a new league argument is silly. Spanish players go to England and perform from day 1. Saying he plays on a worse team means very little too considering his worse team scored a record 121 goals when they won the league 2 seasons ago.

Regarding penalties I believe for club and country Ronaldo has missed 11, Messi 10-11 too? Maybe someone else can confirm.

Best in the world? Hardly, he has missed 11. Balotelli is a far better penalty taker. Matt Le Tissier was an amazing penalty taker.

He came to La Liga when he was 24, and he is significantly better now than he was when he came here. So I wouldn't say he was in his prime. And world's most expensive team means nothing when the best players actually play(ed) at Barca and cost nothing.

Mate, it's a credit to the players if they go to a new league and play well. You can't say it's no big deal and expect all players that move to a different country to keep their performance.

Surely, it is alot harder to change to a new team and keep your high level than be in a familiar setup throughout your entire career. Don't be daft.

Ronaldo is incredible, yes. But he still need 5-10 more shots per goal than Messi. Messi is simply unmatched, period.
