I am not saying that he has haters on this forum. I mean all over the world. Everyone thinks that Messi is done but I belive that he will come back soon!

hardly anybody really thinks that

But really fans here are almost bi-polar, overly extatic when things go well, overly negative and lashing out to everyone when barça loose...

But do you think the fans who criticize him harshly after a defeat are the same ones who praise him to the heavens after a great display? Typically, the way it works on the internet, the set of fans who praise him show up after the wins and disappear after defeats and poor matches. And vice versa with those who criticize. So it's not really about being bipolar, it's about being opportunistic.

There are some here who qualify as bi-polar. From Messi is the best to he is garbage in the span of a week. And also the opportunists, ofc.

You can't blame the opportunists though. If the team and Messi are playing well and someone criticizes Messi, they will get shut down instantly or it will devolve into some dumb argument that will get troll-quarantined or the entire page will be flooded with smug reaction gifs. Same with when you try to praise a player after a bad performance (Pedro, Valdes in the past etc.). No point in posting a contrary opinion at that time.

The question is, will we have the same discussion a year from now?

Or perhaps I should ask, will Messi put all the doubters away with his amazing and consistent effort and performance, or will he deteriorate and get into a downward spiral in terms of both effort and performance to the point that the fans are so sicked of it and they won't even bother to have a discussion about him anymore?

Stay tuned for WC, that's where it will tell us

Can't wait for the WC. Just hoping that Agüero can stay fit or he might ruin it all for Messi  .

If he won the WC this summer, he could retire the next day and be considered the best player to have played the game. That is all he has left to win, so rightly or wrongly, you get the feeling that is his focus. I wouldn't buy this 'isn't fully fit' line, he's been playing regular football for three/four months, if he isn't fit now he never will be.

I think he and the team will do enough between now and the end of the season to win the league. With the CL distraction, I'd bet on Atleti dropping points and us not having to win the game at Camp Nou on the final day.
