Many fans don't care about stats, especially when to them it seems as if the player isn't trying hard for the team. Just go on the Madrid forum and see what the fans there have to say about Ronaldo and how he's a cancer despite scoring so many goals , or go on Redcafe and see how many United fans are seething at Rooney, who even though he has very impressive stats, they complained that he was always getting picked by Moyes despite his overall performances being poor.

Fans turning against their teams best player and wanting him to be sold is nothing new, it's happened throughout football history. If Messi does leave it would be sad, but just part of the football cycle, players come and go, don't grow too attached. I had to learn this the hard way when Ronnie left

It actually was a shitty season for him, BY HIS STANDARDS. And he still scored 41 goals. That speaks volumes about how good he can be.

Because he was sooo good last couple of years (goals, assists, if you're interested in stats) people have such high expectations of Messi.

Couldn't have said it any better. Although it has to be said that the general point of view of Barcelona fans IN Catalonia is often very different to the pov of Barça Forum. I haven't been to Catalonia in recent months but I can imagine the locals not blaming Messi as much as people on here do. Most of shit is just coming from the "press" AS, Marca, Sport & MD.

True except Rosell's campaign before elections were filled with lies and he promised lot of things which he absolutely didn't comply with. Plus marketing with millions, socios were absolutely manipulated.
