Hes been quite poor in a couple of games aswell. Running a bit more, true, but theres also alot of times hes not doing much.
The worse the team plays, the more he walks. The team needs to score for him to work harder.

But you know when it comes to the Ballon D'Or it is pretty much down to the goal tallies that will decide the winner between the two, Messi and Ronaldo. Other stuff, such as overall performance, impact and team results all take second fiddle, if matter at all.
