Pele is a douche but he was a great player none the less.

I think Messi is the best I've seen and I am 45 years old.

HOWEVER the one thing that goes against Messi is the quality of defenders and defending in general.

In Maradonas era and even in the era of the real Ronaldo the quality of defending was much better. Messi has found it difficult against the likes of Lucio, Samuel,Nesta etc.

He also sucks at penalties and shouldn't take them imo.

Still the best player ever imo.

That's only partially true. While defensive game overall was maybe on higher level before "Messi's era" primarily because defenders were able to play more physically, other teams were not defending that much against Barca as they do now. Even poor Primera teams were not parking buses against us with 10-11 players that much. I watched videos of Ronaldo R9 from his sole Barca season recently and is pretty amazing how much space he and his teammates had. Messi would kill for so much open pitch today.

There are loads of good players in the EPL. Most would jump at chance to go to Barca/Real means fuck all. Most of La Liga would jump at chance to go to ANY EPL team.

One thing most EPL fans just can not accept is that current English football simply sucks . Instead of playing English football they try to imitate spanish or German teams which does not work . England teams need more English players instead of filling the field with Spanish , Brazilian , Argentinian ,african , East European players THUS you see football that lack co·he·sion and rhythm which hurts the eyes when watching .
