He made a couple of chances for suarez, he was involved in the penalty. The only player that could beat a person. You can blame him if you want, but without him we would be much worse.

Again. Not blaming him only arguing against idea he was good or better than the rest.

He needs to up his game from that big time.

If we're going by stats, Messi had 3rd most touches of the entire field, behind Busquets and Alba. Yes that includes RM players too. Had the most dribbles, tied with Isco, 2 key passes, and 2 tackles, and he was driving virtually every single attack of the second half.

Yet you have people here trying to tell you he was lazy, uninvolved and played badly.

hmm

2 key passes... one more than Denis who created the best chance and same as Vidal.

Also had horrible passing stats and gave it away the most.

He was lazy and him getting ball often doesnt change that.

Messi had 84% pass success, which is, wait for it....... his career average!!! Shocker!!

JamDav you simply didn't watch the game are just here spinning smoke. Go away man.

nonsense, he played through the middle as a false nine during Barcelona's best ever period.

Ok, sorry.

Nothing good ever happened when Messi played in the middle AFTER PEP and AFTER teams figured out how to neutralize Tiki-Taka and actions through the middle.

Different from playimg false nine with another CF as he does when goes there now.

He doesnt play as an AM he plays like a second striker and whoever is choosing that at expense of right hand side it is fucking up balance of team. Amongst other issues obviously.

I remember you praising Neymar's performance against PSG in the 4 0, when he lost the ball 41 times. :(

Mmmm think you mean the Juve game and no I cant really remember backing him too much on that.

Other than worked hard and had to try and make things happen maybe, but wouldnt have been praising him as better than the rest or any great praise.

If you only count key passes as chances, yeah. But key passes are only passes that lead to shots. We all know there's far more to creating than this.

No need to prove that Messi did multiple key things in attack today. Give it 4 hours or so and the match-comp will be out, and we can go second by second to show everything he did that should've led to an effective attack or goal. There were plenty of those moments, counters he started on his own by dropping Casemiro/Kovacic/etc. and plays that Suarez royally fucked up.

But no need to speak of it from memory, it will be seen hard and clear in footage. Obv not his best match today, but the idea that he barely did anything is laughably ridiculous and will be proven to be the monumentally stupid opinion that it is.
