10 - Lionel Messi - V6

Maybe Messi needs a new challenge as well. Maybe we should listen to offers. Legends rarely retire at Barcelona.

I'd personally rebuild all the attack and look to sell both Messi and Suarez. I'd sell Messi for 300m. Don't think anyone would pay close to that though.

For his sake he should have gone a year or two ago instead of signing a contract.

Even now though we could take a world record fee, flog Suarez and then rebuild the attack with younger, fresh, quick and healthy players and try and get Mbappe and one of the Liverpool attack or Hazard. Dembele is already our future but he'll be held back by that pub player up front.

Instead the rest of Messi's peak will be ruined by the pathetic joke that is Luis Suarez and Valverde and in 3 years Messi and Suarez will both go for free and we'll have no money to replace them with the quality needed.

With the level of potential creativity we have atm (Coutinho and Dembele) Messi does not have to drop deep as much. He needs to play more as a real 9 rather than a false 9 and be involved less in the build up. Basically, should receive the ball in the 10 area and not between Busi and the center backs.

in 2013 and 2014 we were playing

............busi
.....xavi......cesc
.neymar.messi.iniesta

messi was the only forward on the team, neymar had not fully adapted and iniesta went back to midfield.

replace them with true forwards who male runs infront of messi and things will be a lot different i.e dembele and malcom

He is the main reason why we still keep winning the league, if not for him we would be in big trouble.

I didn't say he couldn't do well there, it was Andy Gray a UK pundit asking that question, but some pitches in the PL are bad like last night too

No they're not. I've never seen a pitch that bad in all divisions of English football. You might get some bumpy ones or waterlogged but Messi has proven he's one of the best on a waterlogged pitch before. I've never seen any where the ground is giving way constantly and the players are sinking into it like they were last night.

Agreed about playing Dembele and Malcom ahead of Messi .
Ive said that numerous times ..

We played 8 matches without him while he was injured . We didn't teared teams apart like the way you are claiming . struggled as hell against Getafe away and grinded out a win , lost sevilla away( Where Messi saved our ass in past two seasons) , we almost lost to Leverkusen at home . It was only after 80th minute that Roberto and suarez managed to find a goal against a team that Messi scored in his comeback match. We played against a terrible Real Madrid side who had no clue or plan on how to tackle a quality opponent . Teams that we teared apart where Bate Borisov and Villareal at home . kindly stop fooling people with false narratives .

He is vital to our team for his goals and assists BUT he's got to get more involved and put far more effort in - I think

Don't know what you mean by get more involved. He is more involved than any attacker on our team or any team really. He plays as a midfielder more than other attackers do

Mods, can we introduce a rule whereby anyone who demands we sell our best ever player is banned permanently?

Controversial but fair.

FC Barcelona have won CL titles and La liga's before Messi and will do so after him too. We need to build for the future.

Barça won exactly 1 CL without him, with him 4 and 9 La Liga titles in 14 years

I think you should go back to your ballon d'or trolling...

People are complaining about the pitch, well a lot of pitches of the lower teams in the Premier League are like that, so maybe the point of could Messi do it on a cold night in Stoke becomes more valid

Bollocks, pitches in the PL are usually outstanding. You really are a piss poor excuse of a troll

Agreed, this thread is already becoming a disgrace again, to many trolls and people with agenda's

Thats the problem though. If he leaves for free at the end of his contract then we wont have the money to replace him. Of course he can't be replaced man for man but a world class forward in this market is 200 million.

We've already lost all our value for Suarez who is worth nothing and on a long contract.

Unless it's trolling or being overly tedious I don't think we should ban other people's ideas no matter how outlandish they sound.

Hypothetically would you trade with PSG Messi and Suarez for Mbappe and Cavani?

Bearing in mind Messi and Suarez are both over 30 with two seasons left on contract after this one, Suarez is finished and we won't do anything in CL with him up front and stuck with Valverde. The rest of Messi's peak years are being wasted here anyway.

The reality is we'll end up having to replace them with no money and therefore unable to get players of the level of Mbappe when the time comes.

I'm not saying yes to this proposal either btw, it'd be too gut wrenching to lose Messi when it came down to it (unlike Neymar) but logically it'd make sense.

Last time I checked this is Barcaforum, not Messiforum. I can ask for a massive rebuild of the team anytime I want.
