Usually don't watch pre match stuff but did yesterday for Nations League and tbh the obsession with superlatives is becoming really stupid these days. Maybe that's just false memory but it feels like it just became like this the past couple years.
It was almost exclusively about how Ronaldo is still "the best" at 34 and nothing about the rest of the Portugal team, how the Netherlands have "the best CB duo in the world", how VVD is the most expensive and best defender and even the commentator highlighted every simple duel Van Dijk won as something unbelievable and how he is that unbeatable giant. Low point was when they showed interviews asking swiss players if they are gonna tell their grandchildren about this unbelievable Ronaldo show right after they lost
Often the same for Messi too of course. I mean he's the best i ever saw playing but the overreaction to every little action is sometimes way too much as well.
Regarding Balon d'Or...Messi should win it. At least if its about how good a player was and not just about what he won with the team. If they just give it to the player that won CL or most titles okay but they could just cut out the whole voting thing entirely then as it becomes pointless anyway.
