I think the most important measure would be what percentage of goals and assists those players are contributing.
If a team scores 20 goals a season and Gasgas scores 15 of them, this should be different from another era when the team scores 800 goals and Jamdav scores 50 of them. Also another important measure would be assessing contribution in big games, and match winning goals like a goal that clinches a 3-2 victory. Otherwise plenty of time will be wasted here

As a goalscorer between ronaldinho vs neymar, and suarez vs eto'o we need to compare their conversion rates
Your last sentence is as funny as it gets :rofl1: :rofl1:. With the same level of thinking we can start saying messi has never scored vs chelsea but cristiano has, and so in a UCL final. See what i did there?

Wait...what?

So you genuinely believe that Eto'o was ever streets ahead of Suarez? For the love of Christ, Suarez almost single-handedly gave the EPL title to Liverpool last season (even though he missed something like 6 or 8 games in the beginning) while he has massively improved our team since finding his feet this season. My point was not to isolate Man City and PSG, but to stress the point that some of Suarez's goals this season were of colossal importance. I am trying to think of an occasion when Eto'o scored two goals in big CL away games (in his several years with us) and I really can't find any examples. Eto's biggest ever goals with us were his goals in the finals of Paris and Rome. But Suarez has shifted into top gear straight away and we cannot ignore that.

Anyway i found this site today, great website for top goal scorer stats in epl, la liga, buli and serie a.....

http://www.free-elements.com/index.html

Go to 'the greatest' section.... both messi and ronaldo are closing in on muller. I think neymar will reach top 5. He is completely capable of achieving it.

Conversion rates don't tell the whole story either. It is the strength of some players to get into goal scoring positions as often as they can.

I remember Alex Ferguson saying how he loved Ronaldos desire to take shots and try to score goals all the time. He knew full well he would miss a lot but it would win them games.
Then why are we arguing, what do we use to tell the difference?
If we have no gold standard to compare the two why are we busy comparing?

Neymar scored 19 goals in la liga. He might add 5 more goals mostly... let us assume it will 25 at the end of the season. Neymar is a very good goal scorer. He will break pele record. So it is not a surprise he will score 25 goals this season. That doesn't make him better player than ronaldinho... who even claimed that?

But if you want to compare ronaldinho and ronaldo (cr7), the former is better player at his prime but ronaldo has consistency. He even has most number of goals in CL record in a single season ( only saying this because you consider la liga to be statpading league). So yes ronaldo deserves to be mentioned among ronaldinho and other legends during that time.

Hahahahaha. Good point about CR7.

Even though he is an absolute douchebag, and we all dislike him in here, we cannot pretend he is not an all-time great. He has shown extreme consistency over many years, he has scored shitloads (as much as Messi more or less) he has scored against all big European sides that Real and United have faced, and will soon be Real Madrid's all-time leading goal-scorer. He is definitely in the top 10 players of all time, maybe even top 5.

But yes, as a playmaker, Ronaldinho was infinitely better, and overall, Messi is handsomely better. This doesn't take anything away from Ronaldo's mega-achievements.

Ronaldo is definitely in top 5 best goal scorers but i wouldn't place him anywhere near top 5 players of all time and maybe top 10 too (hard to tell)

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??

Cristiano is a 2nd fiddle all time great, along players like Thomas Muller who are only remembered for the amount of goals they scored.
Imo ronaldinho is a step above, yes after he won everything he decided to party the rest of his career away but the height he reached is jaw dropping.

Ronaldinho at his prime was lot better than cr7 but the problem is he didn't stay there for long. Sad that it went down like that. If he played with same consistency as messi and cr7 i would definitely prefer him over any player in the history including messi.

b-b-but CR and Ronnie both played on the wings, let's make it about goals and shit all over Ronnie, nothing else matters !
