Um. This is perhaps a dumb question but is there any actual proof that Mascherano refused to play yesterday? Or is it just an extrapolation based on Hodgson's comment?

The team are shite , but we will always be a massive club.

maybe in the eyes of your fans, but players know liverpool is not the place to play.
Unless something drastic changes in th enext week u will lose Torres and then you are screwed. he will leave if u dont get CL this year imo then its all over for u for a long long time.

Torres can leave if he wants , he has showed his loyalty so far though. No one is bigger than the club though. We will be back one day.

Oh hell, this is whats going to happen every time Barca make a move for an EPL based player. Mascherano has said he wants to leave, we then put in a bid for him. Whats wrong with that? As for Arsenal, they have proved what double standards exist from the average EPL fan. Castigated us for the Cesc saga yet clearly, Fulham feel they have acted somewhat dubiously in unsettling Schwarzer. i suppose thats ok though.
Please don't be so naive. Barca put in an offer which they knew would be rejected. Why the hell would we take £12M plus 2 Barca rejects? Great deal for Barca who want to get rid off two unwanted players on their already high wage bill, not so great for Liverpool who are already crippled with debt.
We have already told Barca the asking price. If they don't want to meet that valuation then they should no longer bother us. That Barca appear to have agreed a deal in principle with Mascherano before agreeing a price with Liverpool certainly indicates he has been tapped up, which led to his disgraceful decision to not play in order to force a move through.
Don't pretend Barca have been entirely angelic in this whole episode, you would feel very differently if a Barca player was behaving like this.

It will take a very long time to get back imo. Once Gerrard retires and torres has gone, what top players hav u got? Reina? you have no money to spend remember although you may get taken over but even then you have to beat arsenal, spurs, city and united. every year you miss CL your prestige goes down big time imo

In Lucho we trust!
We offered you that because that is what we think he is worth to us. We have a right to make an offer because he is officially on the market, like ebay. Any suggestion that we have already agreed personal terms is just bollocks, but we will know what he is paid and he knows that we will offer him the same. Simples.

Oh, before I forget...could you remind us all how Liverpool bought him in the first place?

it happens ALL the time. every club does it.

Clubs won't go to such lengths to get players unless they have the green light at the other end first. What's the point of haggling for months over a player who will then reject you? tapping up is part of the game these days unfortunately.

whats all the fuss about, this is how transfers are gone now a days and have always been done, despite what some may think.

don't you think a club wants to know if a player in interested in coming to the club before they make a bid for him.

Ofcorse it does , but there hasn't been a case as clear as this for ourselves.

anyways he is coming to barca, and thats thats

englis clubs need to understand that when barca and real coming calling, players can't say no and will always make a fuss.

unless that player is a national of the league in question.

12m was a low ball figure, but that why it called negotiating.
