19 - Lamine Yamal

His father seems like a brainless tool. Don't think we will be able to keep Lamine for many years without being taken to the cleaners. Or keep him at all

Soooo negative 😆

It could happen, why not but there’s no indication the kid is destined to be a problem or succumb to burden of stardom

No question though that he has to be managed well. At 17, so many things can still happen before he is even 20 as he is still truly a developing player - in all aspects, including managing that burden professionally & personally. So yes, many hurdles and many opportunities to get derailed

However, the kid has been a team player - he is not a prima donna despite a tool for papa. He’s doing and saying all the right things, a little patience is deserving for the kind of dedication already demonstrated at his age no?

Di Maria is a crossover in my opinion. I mean the issue is that there are people who think you aren't a dribbler if you don't do some flicks, tricks. But there is no point if you can pass the opposition without them. You are a dribbler if you can pass the opposition constantly and you can weave through them. If you do flicks it's a bonus. That's why you will see people arguing Cr7 at United was the best dribbler ever while stumbling from time to time. Stepsover ar seen as some proof of dribbling prowess when that's just an optional thing.
Cr7, at best (his younger days at Utd), was somewhat decent. However he always lacks of close control, balance with the ball. And he mostly ran straigth, like a horse. Crazy that even Dembele is much better dribbler.

Some clowns write that even Leo was not so good at 16 years old.

Absolute nonsense. Okay, here the level of opposition is lower, but look at the skills - in terms of ball control, acceleration, speed, dribbling, quality of passes, Leo at 16 years old was much better than Yamal.
Yeah but even Messi did not play at senior level when he was 16.

That's what we meant exactly (Cristiano Ronaldo). He takes big touches, does better in bigger spaces, lacks balance and co-ordination, and always looks on the verge of losing it, like he isn't in control of the ball. And he was a straight line runner rather than a weaver, yes.

Some people see people driving through the pitch at pace with long touches and think that's dribbling (Pogba, Kaka and Yaya Toure). It isn't really. That's driving at teams with brute power and force. Dribbling is direction changes, feints, balance.

At that time, it was extremely rare for 15-16 year old players to make their debut in the adult team.

I am convinced that this 16 year old guy in the video could play in the Barcelona first team.

An important aspect of Yamal's dribbling is sharp, tight turns, so his center of gravity is an important factor in the success of his dribbling.
Obviously, he will gain height and this could be the death knell for his game.
Some people here talked about the growth of Henri, Robben and others, but you guys forget that compared to these guys, Yamal is just a turtle. And don't tell me about 16-17 years, Yamal will never be nearly as fast.

On Redcafe they're playing down Lamine while acting like Mainoo is already a superstar

Now, I think Mainoo is a talent, but his positioning is suspect and he often lets people run off him. Yamal is two years younger and - assuming he is not overplayed - could be the best player in the world.

It shows how bitter and jealous they are to rave over Mainoo and downplay Yamal. No disrespect to Mainoo, but Yamal is miles more gifted than him.

A better Mahrez though. Mahrez was in Ligue2 at around 22.

Anyways, glad he got the Eurocopa goal as a 16 year old. Now let's see him grab tomorrow's winner. Or atleast the first, the last and the middle in a 3 goal route.
