When used in football context it's pretty obvious what it means , leaving aside the general notion of the word and it's significance.

Balde has improved a lot in 22/23 season, but hit a sophomore wall early last season and then got a big injury.
It is natural not to expect improvement before second half of the year.

If he wants to stay long term in the starting lineup, he needs to improve his offensive skills massively. Decision making, passing and crossing into the box is still very poor by him.

Agreed. He has shown what he is capable of during his first season. He was in poor form prior to the injury, but he deserves plenty of time to get back into attacking form after such a bad injury.

If anything, he's improved a little defensively, which is a plus. He has the potential to be a world class LB. More confidence, conditioning and working on his final ball/crossing and he's there.

The complaints come from people thinking every Barca fullback needs to be Dani Alves and Jordi Alba offensively. Which will never happen.

He is 20. Coming of a horrific injury that had him missing a whole season. Let's regain perspective.

Can't think of one big club in Europe that wouldn't cherish a 20 year old left back playing at the level of Ale.

I will say it again. Fans are being spoilt by La Masia. Let's not expect everyone from La Masia to be a Lamine, Cubarsi or Bernal.

His development is going fine and they should absolutely not think of replacing him as first choice.
