As Galning (IIRC) said before; with good positioning and anticipation, you don't really need that much pace. In that sense, I don't mind having a player that is not Alba-esque in pace.

His positioning etc looked a bit suspect at times this season. In the game against Valencia towards the end of the season he was pulled all over the place by Soldado and looked like he couldnt handle his movement.

Guys i dont know if its really a serious issue but..Inigo is 1.81 which for a CB its pretty Short,We need to add some height in this team and especially in defense
Puyol is 1.78 (5'10) while Inigo is 5'11. Anything close to 6 feet is good. Pique is 6'4 but he can't jump or head the ball half as well as Puyol or Inigo.
Theres a lot of speculation on the forum and want for a "world class" CB but Pique wasn't world class when he came back. He became world class as can Inigo. In any case he would be a massive upgrade from Mascherano, Song, or Adriano at CB.

Bartra & Inigo have a good understanding and play well together. They are the starting CBs for Spain's u21 who play again tomorrow 6/9

I cant believe how many people believe that Martinez is brilliant in the air. He isnt.

He is decent in the air for his height and a pointed out before he is nowhere near one of the mosr dominant defenders in the air in La Liga.

It's been repeated many times before. You seem to be the only one who has a problem with his aerial abilities whereas everyone else who watches him agrees that he is great in the air for his height. He doesn't have to be the best aerial defender in la liga to be good in the air

I agree he is decent/good in the air for his height but not above average in the air for a centre back.

I also think he is rash and gets pulled out if position easily and leaves the back line exposed.

The things i like about him is he is good on the ball and plays with a lot of aggression.

A loan of Deulofeu to Real Sociedad could lead to a lower transfer fee of centre back Inigo Martinez (22), who has a 30M buyout fee. [sport]

Nice.

Perfect, we get to loan him to a team who is in champions league, has a good manager, plays attractive possesion football and we could get Iñigo for a bit cheaper than what they want.

Isn't Sociedad's manager leaving though?

Plus, I think Deulo would get more minutes with Sevilla. Especially with Navas gone.

not a fan of this flavour of the month stuff. just like the hype around gundogan. both players may become world class but so can many players. if barcaforum were in charge we'd be a mess due to short term thinking transfers and would ruin the club.

who cares if hes good in the air ''for his height''?. thats like the ''decent touch for a big man'' argument. is he good in the air compared to other centre backs yes or no?

even if he is good in the air its pretty irrelevant. most our conceded goals are on the ground due to counter attacks and fullbacks being high up the pitch. this is solved with one attacking fb with one defensive fb. the main quality for a barca cb is reading of the game because of our high line coupled with a decent amount of pace to make up ground. i think hes average in this area. he's also reckless and will leave the back line exposed.

at the moment i think a good option is branislav ivanovic, until a truly world class centre back is available. i don't know if chelsea are looking to sell him though.
