6 - Gavi

Relax, he will get a shit ton of minutes… and rightfully. People here just don’t see it.

Relax. He will get a lot less minutes if as poor as last season.

Never mind less than 20 passes but couple 'nice turns' all it takes for him to be 'not as bad as made out'.

Needs to get back to being a midfielder. We're doing him no favours constantly playing to him back to goal and expecting it to create a move. That's the forwards job.

That's just over two years back. Only thing he needs to be learning from there is the selection process. When to dribble, hold the ball and when to quick release.

Pep wouldn't have him running around like a headless chicken, that's for sure.

Yep once he drops back to midfield which will happen, he's gonna blow.

Anyone who doesn't understand/see that is crazy, he's not an AM.

If he runs around like a "headless chicken" that shouldn't be an issue for some fans, we had a Midfielder who did that and was older for years.

That box midfield isn't doing him any favors.

FDJ is Barcas best mid.

Until otherwise he will be picked.

Romeu Pedri Gundogan is not way to go at all.

FDJ is fucking miles better at DM than Romeu anyway even if not best position.

Frenkie is bad at DM and prone to mistakes. I am more comfortable with Romeu playing there and I suspect majority of people think so as well.

Romeu: A defensive midfielder so his role is clear.

Frenkie: A main progressor from the deep, play whatever role he is needed.

Pedri: Probably will be the main creator in current team.

Gundogan: Likely babysit Pedri.

So there is nothing left for Gavi.

Not for me and dont think it is FDJs best position either.

Romeu is very limiting in midfield and slow defensively. He will be solid enough and tidy on ball and dont think Romeu is shit but think others bring more and that is not just FDJ but Gundo and Pedri also.

On Gavi... the reason he doesnt play deeper is because he is far behind Pedri, Gundo and FDJ as CM at moment and was behind them even at his best.

The best thing that happened ot Gavi was the change of formation to four mids and Xavi finding a role for him.

Since then he has played deeper for Spain and Barca on a number of occassions and been absolutely terrible more or less evry time.

Gavi needs to improve massively and stop the headless chicken/hard man act.

The likes of FDJ in season under Koeman was light years ahead of anything Gavi has shown to date.

But.... he still has time to improve and needs to get back to where was when first broke through and take it from there.

Gavi was always an AM with freedom to go hunt ball in lower categories and looks like doesnt yet know how to play CM.

Not uncommon with Barca players that AM role being hard to replicate higher up as first team dont give that freedom.. other less talented players had same issue.. Alena, Puig etc all '10s' in lower categories than dont have a role that fits fully or they are used to when try to step up.

Gavi has more ability than those two but needs to learn how to use it.

Only persons who the box Midfield did any favours was de jong & busquets.

It covered for ones lack of pace and made the other look something close to the player we paid for, as he does almost exclusively well in a double pivot.

Pedri is a genius that does well in any system.

Gavi is nothing like Alena or Piug, he's a Midfielder that's being asked to play effectively as a # 10 or 9.5.

When he came through in his first season and even the beginnings of last season before the switch to 4 man Midfield, all the praise he was getting is public record here for everyone to see.

he's the least of our worries, he'll be consistently WC or close to it by the time he hits 21-23

The fans who are primarily knocking him or just salty De jong fans lol.

Nah... Gavi had lost his place to FDJ who was Barcas best mid and player in run up to formation change last season as he wasnt good enough to hold the positon. He did not have one top game in CM last season.. bar around 20 mins away to Bayern.

Gavi was also behind Pedri and FDJ when both fit in 433 the previous season.

Gavi is the one who found a role in team through the change to 4 mids more than anyone else.

Gavi is similar to Alena and Puig in that he played as a ten with freedom in lower categories and that role is not really there in first team.

Nothing to be salty about on FDJ. He is top class and curently far clear of Gavi in every position they could play.

Just face it fdj wasn't shit before xavi.

Xavi made him a man and a proper player.

He might as well call him daddy
