There is no 'Gavi case.' The conversations for his renewal have just started. The club and his agent have not even discussed figures yet. It's expected that the negotiations will accelerate next week. The player wants to stay, and is crucial for Xavi.— @sport

Good.

Wasn't the story of the difficulty to renew originally written by Sport though. Then yesterday they wrote a glaring positive piece on Gavi, and now say this.

Someone from the club must have been pissed and put a word in their ear.

Exactly.

Sport has turned into a shit paper and it got even worse after Bartomeu left. I used to like to read Sport, because of their section in English, but it really isn't worth the time anymore. Pure clickbait paper.

Lots of drama about nothing, basically. Like I already stated more than once, it was never planned to negotiate during the crucial part of the season. The aim was that players can focus on football, not their contracts.

That's what the reliable Ferran Martinez reported about a month ago:
"The three priority renewals: Araujo, Gavi and Nico, are paused for now as Barca want them to focus on the decisive games they are playing.

There will be "clean" weeks when the renewals will be addressed. All of them are totally committed.

Araujo has already informed his representatives that the priority is to stay at Barcelona. Manchester United and another English club are strongly interested in signing him. Barca have made it clear that they can't match the offers made by the English clubs. Money is not a priority for Araujo, but his representatives want him to be valued as he deserves to be. At the moment, Araujo continues with the intention of staying at Barca. He is fully trusted by the coaching staff and has integrated into the club and the city, and has also become a father recently.

Gavi, for his part, continues to negotiate with Barca but it no rush to close it. He is a homegrown player and wants to make history at the club. There is no imminent agreement yet, but all parties hope to close it soon.
