If he flops like Cesc and we cant get rid of the countless garbage signings we have in the squad, the talk of bankruptcy or years of mediocrity cant be so far fetched.

Can't disagree with that. Shame we couldn't do that last year with Pogba. Paco, Gomes, Digne and Denis are all players who gave us pretty much nothing so far. Quantity over quality signings, but combine all four together and that's a lot of money spent on mediocrity.

It's a testament to how terrible our board is.

Coutinho is on the level of signings we need to help get the best out of Messi in the remaining time that he has here. But when you look at Madrid, they did it so much more efficiently with the likes of Kroos and Modric who were also on the necessary level to get the best out Ronaldo.

The board can GTFO, but I would take Coutinho at the price for what he would provide for the sporting aspect of our team.

Its is far fetched and Cesc never flopped as badly as folk make out.

Pep wanted him to alter system anyway.

Quality doesn't necessarily mean paying a premium above 100m each time.

lol, we have to count on Suarez until he's 35 with this madness. Not much money to spend in the coming years. Will certainly be difficult to compete in the market with the big guns and we all know how rubbish we are at finding bargains in the market so thats not something we can count on either.

Messi, Suarez, Iniesta, Pique and Masch all 30+ and will need long term replacements. Alba , Rakitic and Busquets 28-29. Coutinho just replaces one of those players.

Yet building the new stadium limits funds at the same time the transfer market has gone mad. We're not going to get money for any of those players when they leave and yet it'll cost upwards of 100 million to replace half of them if we don't start working the market properly.

For starters over the next couple of years we should be looking at Dybala to replace Suarez.

At least Robert confirms that we are indeed negotiating with several players and have multiple options, just as I said. The "Coutinho or no one because the market is about to close soon" can be safely dismissed as rubbish. Anything else would be pure stupidity.

True, the value of our squad is plummeting as they pass 30 and their value is approaching 0. We might have to pay to get rid of some players if their age catch up with them quickly as they are on fat long term contracts.

Wouldn't it be better to negotiate with their clubs rather than the players?

Seems a small but very important point to me...
