Haha .. I know right ! Sounds weird coming from me after all the shit I got in his thread for being a Neyhater

But to me, he is because during a couple months he was the only reason we were winning, same as Messi since January (bar a few games), I value that and so does the rest of the forum (Cf the MotM thread !!).

It's easy to bang in goals when you have an in form Neymar or Messi serving you left and right, but I remember more great individual performances from Suarez last season than this one to be honest.

Yes, he was beyond amazing during the first few months. But during the crucial phase of the season, he disappeared, while Suárez still did his best to help the team as good as possible. He was the only reason why we went into the Atlético 2nd leg with a chance and the main reason why we've won the last couple of matches in the league. To me, playing fantastic in the 1st, not so important part of the season is not nearly enough to warrant being called one of the best players of the season.

Oh, and if the Suarez fanboys needed more argument to hate me, I didn't chime in at the time, but I don't agree that he's better than Fenomeno, despite scoring more goals

Come at me broooo !!!

Everyone can have his/her opinion, but it is just wrong to dismiss the MotM thread as Messi fanboy-ism.I personally count the votes, and you may not believe me,but there are as many,if not more,Suarez fanboys as Messi fanboys. At many matches, everyone votes for X player as their best, but there are some members who will vote for Suarez no matter what.

And let's say that Messi gains more points than he deserves. The reality is that Messi is closer to having double the points of Suarez, than being equal to him. Some people's perception is clouded by:
A)Suarez scoring more goals, while Messi doesn't care and in the meanwhile does all the playmaking
B)Messi not being GOAT this year
I'll speak for myself.
MOTM just like ballon dor, is opinion not fact.
Stats are facts. You cant argue with numbers.
A player than 2 km, that's a fact.
A player made 10 key passes, that is a fact and facts explain what we observe with our eyes (which are most of the time biased)

here's my two cents. in one or both of the games where suarez scored 4 goals, messi was the key, the better player out of the two. let that sink in before we dig deep into facts/stats.

Messi is offering his pens this season for fucks sake, and was out for 2 months, using the stats argument is already ridiculous usually it is even more so now!

They're dismissing the MotM votes just because it suits them.
Stat arent ridiculous.
You play six months, we use those six months to find a rate. You play two months all the same.
Thats why we have stats like.
'gasgas scores 2 goals for every 90 minutes played"

Trust me I too am very disappointed by Neymar's 2nd half of the season (my posts in his thread are crystal clear about this).

But still overall, think he was the X factor for us this season more so than Suarez, to me Suarez performed amazing as long as the team was playing amazing, but I fail to find one performance like against PSG last season for example for him this season, sure he bagged in 4 goals in 2 games, but to me he still wasn't "great" in those games.

How many times this season we saw comments in this thread like "wow, even having a bad game he still bags in a hat-trick" ?

Exactly.

And you guys are conveniently ignoring the FACT that if Messi didn't get injured, he would have more goals and assists than Suarez... veeery convenient to forget this and at the same time talk about stats stats stats :)

that can't be called "fact"... google what fact means

I disagree as a personal opinion and also using stats :D

well...yes

Do you even watch the games?Suarez misses a ton of sitters. They may have a similar conversion rate, but Messi has many missed shots by distance etc.
** A Messi miss is acceptable, a Suarez miss is not.

Because, guess what?Suarez has messi feeding him right in front of the goal, while messi has to make almost everything by his own.Even the assists he gets usually originate by some killer through pass to alba for example.
** When Messi sets up Suarez for a goal he is being the only reliable playmaker on the team. When Suarez sets up Messi for a goal it's a fluke of nature that is to be ignored.

Finally, you conviently ignore that Messi is the sole reliable playmaker in this team
** of course he is. His 19 assists account t for all of Barca's 120 + goals.

If you can't accept these three arguments, then maybe we are watching different games
** We are watching the same games, but you are watching only one player on the team, everyone else is irrelevant to you.

I am backing Suarez season here and I have never once voted in a MOTM thread. Not here or anywhere.
If Messi doesn't care about scoring goals, then maybe it's time to retire. And if Messi does all the playmaking then why does he only have 19 assists, he should have over 70 if that were the case.

Assists are not the only parameter of being a playmaker.
Using that logic, Ronaldo and Suarez are better playmakers than Modric.

That is such a clueless statement

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??
I've come to terms with him missing chances or his poor first touch as he always deliveres in big matches.
We really can't ask more otherwise he'd be on Messi level and that's just not possible.

He also adds cojones and hunger to this team and that's very underrated.

Bojan summed it up nicely.
Let's enjoy suarez for what he is, you are just making this thread hard to read with these ridiculous claims.
