We definitely needed another goal scorer, don't let hindsight affect your opinion. At the end of last season, Barca was struggling for goals and goal threat that didn't come from Messi. Neymar last season was not a goal threat. Alexis was terrible in UCL and couldn't score outside Camp Nou. Barca were definitely in need of a proven scorer.

Alexis could have been kept, he's a good player that had improved at Barca and was likely to continue to do so, but that doesn't mean the team did not need improved scoring.

We can question the wisdom of spending so much for Suarez, but we're doing this under the situation of his and the team's current struggle to prop our argument, which is unfair. At the time of his purchase, Suarez was the EPL's best player and had almost single handily taken Liverpool to the EPL title.

I still think a lot of what's happening to him is not of his doing. This team is struggling in too many areas to blame lack of production on the players alone. When the entire entity is struggling for the most part, we have to look at the bigger picture.

I used to think like that, Sumlit. I changed my mind because Neymar was bound to improve. Also, after the ban, and with Suarez on, we lost the Messi-Neymar connection, that was starting to gel and improving. Because Messi was moved to a rw/free role, farther from Neymar. And if not Alexis, reus is also a good goal scorer. We really shouldn't have spent so much money on Suarez.

I'm not going to disagree strongly with any of this, it is easy to question the wisdom of spending so much for one player when your team has so many pressing needs, but I'm leery of condemning the Suarez purchase firstly because I wanted him, and secondly because I think it is unfair to judge him under the current circumstances.

As to the loss of Messi-Neymar connection, that falls on the coach. If he cannot get the best out of the world class players he has, that is on him. That is what he is there to do.

I won't debate you on Alexis, because that he perhaps should have stayed is a valid point; and on Reus, because I am a big fan of his.

Suarez is the best possible option if we play in a way that suits him. He is the best striker in the world arguably when in form.

It doesn't need to be anything special, I mean liverpool managed to do it. We just need to give him the service he likes.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
The thing is that we should be scoring 3+ goals per game easily despite Lucho's and Zubi's ineptitude... Neymar and Messi have done their share (to some extent), but Suárez has gotten enough chances to prove himself and besides the Almeria game he's been mediocre at best...

I know he's still adapting, the club is a mess, our manager clueless, but a player of his caliber should have shown some glimpses of quality by now, and by that I don't mean a goal against Apoel and a good game against a team fighting for category...

He played in the center for a half and even when we don't play him in centre on paper he still plays in centre many times throughout the match. He needs to get his game to anywhere near his level of last season. As much as I hate enrique, tactics is not the reason he is not performing. His touch is like from someone who started playing football yesterday.

Seriously I don't get it.

What is wrong with Suarez? It's far beyond the system. Can't blame it on that because a good player is always a good player. I was sure that we would see glimpses of LP Suarez.

Maybe its a liverpool-thing, offloading worldclass-strikers who turns to shit once in a new club. Owen wasnt that bad, he was ok for a while, but a failure anyway, Torres was horrible post-liverpool.

No doubt he was a Bartomeu signing.

He had a lot to prove considering his history.... but so far, he's been an awful signing.
