9 - Robert Lewandowski

Prioritising and saving himself for Barca looks like to me. He has always been a selfish player, all the top strikers are, but I've noticed he is much more of a team player recently and cares about Barca much more than he ever did Bayern.

What makes me say this is that when he is scoring now he is making little teamtalks when the players are huddled together celebrating, when before his celebrations were all about himself.
That was an interesting opinion but I disagree on his lower level of dedication with the previous teams. I found him always emotionally vested 100% for BVB, Bayern and now for Barcelona, especially when his role in the team was emphasized as critical. He could be more joyful about Barcelona goals, also when other teammates score, because at Bayern, that was too much of a commonplace.
Definitely, scoring for Barcelona is more of a challenge than it was at Bayern.

Also, I think he senses a good potential for success this season under Flick for himself and the team.

In the two previous editions of the Nations League, when he was a Bayern player, he was spared also.

Even I am against it. This should be his last season. Maybe, only maybe, if he bangs like 40+ in the leage, and then contributes largely to where the club winds up being in CL, hopefully semi finals at least, one more season as the contract stipulates. Then at 38, he's still capable to have the last shot at the WC 26.
After that, have some fun at MLS or make more dough at the Arab league.
But dough he's got already, why dilute what is considered more than a decent run in the last 2 decades?

With this form and condition Lewandowski can play for another 3 years at this level, for example Lukas Podolski in the Polish league - much weaker condition etc. and yet he managed.

Oh sure, I wish he could last until 40 at La Liga but that is not feasible. Aging mercilessly exposes all the shortcomings. I would not want to see him in a role of a substitute who gets to play in the last 10 minutes.

40+ in league?? Only prime Messi/Ronaldo reached those numbers in league, 25+ would be great for his age 🔥

He said he wants to play at the new camp nou, so even without the clause maybe he would have tried to negotiate something.

I think it has more to do with his family absolutely loving the life in Barcelona, especially his wife.
