I still think he is a bit overrated. An excellent finisher but... Bayern are a well-oiled machine. They dominate Bundesliga. Always. Whoever plays as their number 9 would get a shit-load of goals. Say someone like Edinson Cavani would easily goal 30+ a season playing for Bayern. Im not saying Cavani is better or equal to Lewandowski but... You give the Ballondor to the best player in the world right? Not someone who neccessarily won the most awards but who is the best player. Right? In previous years Messi won it deservedly. So did Ronaldo. Maybe in 2013 should have been Ribery, maybe. Lewandowski? I cant say with a straight face that he is a better footballer than Neymar, Mbappe, Benzema, Salah or Messi. He cannot do the goods that these fellows do. He is only a finisher. Nothing wrong with that but... The best player? Come on.

He's got some of the best technique and hold-up play that I've seen of any modern striker. Merely an 'excellent finisher' wouldn't work in Bayern's system at all. Besides his technique, he's also great at pressing, wins almost all his (aerial) duels, drops wide when needed... Now this is not a comparison to Messi whatsoever, just saying that he's so much more than just a finisher.

He's really the perfect modern striker.

messi deserved all his ballons except for 2010, when xavi or iniesta should have won it, and 2019, a year in which, despite some remarkable individual performances, he was well on way toward the 5-year CL-humiliation stretch leading to his barca exit

every other time messi was head and shoulders the very best in the world. that hasnt been the case for years now and it certainly isnt today. messi probably goes to bed thanking his lucky stars he wasnt in barcelona for the 0-3 v bayern this year and the inevitable thumping that lew and bayern will deal barca when they play at the allianz

I think Messi deserves the ballon d’or but Lewandowski is a far better player than him or Neymar right now. Every big team in Europe would take Lewandowski over either Messi or Neymar right now pretty easily imo.

Don't see how he's overrated, he is Ronaldo level of obsessed with staying in shape, and he is sharp as fuck every match
