Good thing they settled their difference. That should mean that he has an equal shot at the position from the beginning of the season. Hopefully both he and Roberto pushes themselves to the limit in order to secure a starting XI spot.
I think Bob has a clear advantage. Never had a feud with Lucho, or slacked in training. Aleix will need to win him over now.
He made a mistake and got benched as punishment. Move on Lucho, the club spent millions to bring him and he is still getting paid seven figure. It is just a waste not to be used just cuz of Lucho's emotional insecurity.
Aleix: "Maybe unconsciously I wasn't training at 100% because I knew I couldn't play."

I don't think they've settled their differences by any means. Saying so is the acceptable thing to say and keeps drama away from the club, but Lucho isn't the type who will let things go after one meeting in his office. The man is ruthless, even to his own kids. If Vidal doesn't show instantly that he's going to put in 150% of the effort, he's not going anywhere fast. Just ask Deulofeu. Not to mention, Roberto is a La Masia kid who's development is largely credited to Lucho, who is the one who came up with the idea of playing Roberto at RB in the first place. Even if Roberto struggles to perform we're unlikely to see Vidal get many opportunities to overtake him, even if he somehow manages to outperform Roberto every now and then.

He could be ruthless but I doubt if he is stupid enough to play a non-performing player above a player who is doing well!I don't think they've settled their differences by any means. Perhaps, yeah, but if anything, then Vidal should have learned that by now, and will fight for his life at Barça from the first training. Lucho is undeniably a hard-ass, but he's not stupid. If he still doesn't believe in Vidal, he would look to offload him in this very window, and search for a replacement.

It's a lot harder to dig out of the doghouse than avoid it. Especially in Lucho's case. Why we don't offload Vidal this window is a mystery to me, up there with numerous other decisions Lucho has made that don't make any logical sense, from refusing to sell Adriano, to giving Arda more playing time than Roberto, to promoting Munir to the first team without any B team experience, to playing Mathieu at LB regardless of how bad he does, etc.
Of all the midfielders the B team has, for the first half of the season the only one he consistently called up to the first team was Gumbau. Probably the only player on both teams worse at his position than Douglas.
All of those decisions were sort of luxury oddities - or mistakes, if you want - in that they weren't really capable of burying him or the team. Not wanting Vidal at all, would mean that he's stuck with 1 single rb for the season, which could very well mean an irreversible blow, if anything should happen to Roberto.
The mister does work in mysterious ways - that I can agree with - but this just seems too outlandish to me.
