Alexis Sanchez

Of course players will want to leave when they find out they're not part of the club's future plans anymore. That's nothing new.

This goes to show Alexis' geat workrate, but we knew that. But Cesc on 2nd place is surprising. Seems like Mourinho knows how to use him.

This is from his time at Barca. Its no coincidence both Cesc and Sanchez are leading. This was one of the keys to our side being great.

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/chilean-press-says-excess-sex-tiring-arsenal-s-alexis-sanchez-o-1

La Cuarta, one of Chile's biggest media outlets, explained late on Friday that Alexis Sanchez may find himself too tired to perform at his best during the match against manchester United. That was due, say La Cuarta, to 'excess football and sex'.

Sorry what? Yes, La Cuarta even put it in their headline. They explain that after Sanchez's international duty this week he'll have also had duty with girlfriend Laia Grassi and that she'd be wanting her share of love from the Arsenal star.

Just a question:
= if Alexis is so amazing, why is Arsenal with him in their team even poorer than last Season (without him)?

Yes, there are 1000s of factors that influence things, but still...

(He is playing good in Arsenal. But the point stands that they are even worse now than in the past)
I don't follow them that much. Does anyone have an explanation?
(They haven't sold any of their key-players. They have the same team+Alexis.
So, theoretically, they should have been much stronger this Season, with the same team+a huge signing like Alexis)

On the other hand, Suarez managed to lead Liverpool in a one-man show while playing in Premiership.

So, is there a chance that Alexis is good, he is scoring goals, but he is just not the man who will lead the team to the highest spots?

Blame old and naive Wenger, not Alexis. He has been their best player this season.

Ramsey not playing like he did last season.
Wilshere is injured, again and again and again.. it seems as if every time he starts to get to his best, he gets injured.
Özil is played in a wrong position.
Santi just can't do without the proper support.
Walcott is injured.
Oxlade is not consistent.
Back line is very injury prone and very small in numbers.
Flamini and Arteta as DM.. well says it all... Flamini and Arteta as DM.

+they sold the lord.

Ok. I am not saying that this is the case with Alexis, but in a history of football and in a history of other team sports, there were players:
1. who had good individual stats (Goals, Assists etc)
2. but the team in which they were playing, just always performed averagely, despite Goals/assists/good individual stats from a player.

Example in numbers, imagine a team scoring 60 Goals in one Season, and a player Xx scores 20 Goals.
But the whole team just won less points than expected.

And then, they sell that star player who scored 20 Goals, and they buy a weaker player on paper who will score only 10 Goals per Season...
= but then in the next Season, without that key player (with 20 Goals) from the above, suddenly the whole team plays differently, and suddenly they score 80 Goals, +20 goals more than with that key player in the team
-- without him, the hole team plays differently, and they spread the actions and number of shots differently

Again, I am not saying that this IS the case with Alexis, but after his Barca and Arsenal spell, one of these two scenarios is probably correct:
1. he is an awesome player. He has good individual stats, but he was unlucky both in Barcelona and Arsenal, that the rest of his teammates had poor Season in those Seasons when he was in the team, so his individual brilliance wasn't enough for (major) trophies.
2. he is a type of player who has some awesome skills, and he has good individual stats, but apart from individual stats, his presence just don't bring anything special to teams in which he is playing, in terms of much more points than usual, or in terms of trophies.
In shorter, a good player with good individual stats, but not good enough to turn team's results on longer terms (either with a help of other teammates, either as a one man show like Zlatan, Messi or Suarez, who can alone turn club's results).
And more or less, a team will have the same results with him or some other, random, decent player.

Mrkrmit has it correct, this is not the same Arsenal team + Alexis that is worse, this is a truly terrible Arsenal team with Alexis by far their best player.

lol not even Messi can do something with THIS Arsenal atm. Their team is a total desaster, trust me. Without Alexis they would be on 15th ot 16th.

To be honest, I think he's just unlucky. He is a great player with great workrate, so it's not like he doesn't contribute in defence which makes the team more vulnerable. As MrkmrIt said, a lot of it also has to do with players dipping in form, injuries, etc. Also, how long can Wenger go on with neglecting to strengthen the weak areas of the team without it backfiring eventually? Maybe now it's the time, though we will know for sure at the end of the season.
