was majestic keeping the ball after red... showed again why he should never be sacrificed out into wide role. Hope Pep realises it asap
Spot on! Tends to become anonymous when we play with 4 in the middle or when pushed out on the left.

He was a total beast when he moved back to midfield. :worthy:

Pep, for the love of God, stop playing Iniesta out of position just so you can fit Cesc.

I am praying and hoping for Busi-Xavi-Iniesta-Messi and 2 wingers against Milan.

That is not the first time the Don carries the team after you guys go to ten men. Thiago was boss, the kid is all swag but his sending off was kind of retarded so that is where Iniesta comes into play.

However, his first half was absolutely garbage. Like Pedro garbage.

It was simply amazing how Iniesta doesn't let go off the posession at all once we were a man down... Genius wonly, the Don :worthy:

The Don was injured at the time we played at the San Siro in the groups right?
I guess Berlusconi is finally going to see Iniesta play at the San Siro, maybe for a different side but still...

Bad first half. Was back to his usual classy self in the 2nd.

He will be a barometer on Wednesday night.

barcelona plays with 11 men against mallorca and iniesta on the wing and cesc in the middle - barca plays shit. barca plays second half with 10 men, iniesta in the middle and cesc on the bench - barca beasting around.

yeahbutno.

Clemente fucked his own team by taking off defensive players for forwards to try and win. it was a good gamble but they had to take the lead, and they only equalised. this kept our morale afloat and so when we managed to get our foot on the ball, there was more space for us to operate in as his forwards were nowhere near as good defensively as the guys he took off. then when he did bring a defensive guy on it was the unspeakably bad Eguren.

I'm not saying we're not better with Andrés seeing more of the ball than Cesc, but you can't use that game as an example.

maybe i can in the cesc thread? :pep:

anyway, cesc totally failed as the false9 position to make any impact of the game at all. it's true that in the first half clemente played complete catenaccio and it worked pretty well. partly because cesc failed to do anything up front, partly because they lined up pretty well. we missed messi a lot in the first half. cesc could only work in that position when he has messi alongside him and they play against a lesser team.

exactly.

Cesc isn't a great False9. he can drop off and leave the central area vacated, sure, but he is always at his best playing behind someone in that central area, or running beyond them to score. without a reference point ahead of him he can look lost because despite what people here want to believe, he's a midfielder not a forward. conversely, Messi is a forward so is adept at playing with nothing but defenders and space in front of him, but he also has most of the attributes of a midfielder, which is why he's such a fucking good False9.

Only the decadent Cesc-hating legion can come up with BS like that.

Yes.

Iniesta missed both games against Arsenal in 2010, and both games against Inter in that same year.

He also missed the first semi against Real Madrid last season.

Cesc was playing false 9 against Gijon. Messi was not playing that game.

Cesc was playing a vague forward/midfield role against Mallorca (Thiago was playing the Xavi position) and Barca were never bad in that game, with or without Cesc.

Try harder.

Xaviniestas point is right though, Barcelona plays much much better with Xavi/Iniesta as playmakers in the middle then we do with Xavi/Fabregas and Iniesta on the left wing.

I dont think there is a human being who has seen barca this season that would disagree.
