Andrés Iniesta

Your Numbers BACK-UP EXACTLY what I stated.

That Iniesta HAS a better Pass Completion than Messi.

Thanks for that! :)
Well of course he has a better pass completion... He's a midfielder. He makes pases back to Busquets and makes sideways passes to Xavi. Honestly you have no argument there. Iniesta have a higher pass completion tells us absolutely nothing. You can't compare apples and oranges.

To me they are both the same player if you simplify their traits. They're both dribblers, they both can create chances and they both can draw multiple defenders out of position. Messi is obviously the better finisher but Iniesta is better at winning the ball back IMO they are two sides of the same coin, they compliment each other and we're fortunate enough to have them both.

I miss old times when football just a "simple" football, no one cares about stats, goals, records, just enjoying the players "dacing" in the field.
Why everything now judged by stats? Here have some stats.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOP 10 SCORERS (PLUS TORRES AND ROONEY)

Name Minutes played Goals scored Club

1. Burak Yılmaz 677 8 Galatasaray
2. Cristiano Ronaldo 720 8 Real Madrid
3. Lionel Messi 662 7 Barcelona
4. Ezequiel Lavezzi 425 5 PSG
5. Oscar 449 5 Chelsea
6. Jonas 451 5 Valencia
7. Alan 492 5 Braga
8. Robert Lewandowski 643 5 Dortmund
9. Fabio Quagliarella 248 4 Juventus
10. Kostas Mitroglou 313 4 Olympiacos

21. Fernando Torres 449 3 Chelsea

151. Wayne Rooney 461 1 Manchester United

Does that stats mean Burak Yılmaz is better than CR7 or Messi?

Iniesta's dribbling in tight area's is alot more unpredictable & easy on the eye than Messi's, Messi's dribbling is always the same thing = cutting in. I get bored of watching Messi's dribbling as defenders should do alot better becuase it's obvious what he's doing. Iniesta mixes up alot more. Even though often it doesn't have any end product - assist/goal. But it's alot better to watch from a neutral for sure.

I actually prefer Xavi/Pirlo subtle turns to keep the ball though.

Stats are useful as they are one of the only ways to objectively compare players.

Iniesta has nicer dribbling skills in tight area's, whats cool about Messi's style are those feints, he does it so often and the commentators often don't pick up on it.

As much as i adore andres for me the second best player in the world, you are just plain wrong...Messi is a better dribbler ,he just put on some seriousle leg muscless so he can balance himself better so he doesnt look as slick as iniesta, second messi has up to 4 or 5 players around him which have only one thing to do in the game which is to stop him wheres andres deals with far more space because he is further back and with less aggresive players on the ball, third messi is aside puyol the best tackler in our team but the thing is he stopped doing that a long time ago.If u remember when he ran and tackled more he was a nightmare to deal with his pressing (not our thhing anymore) .When u put andres on the wing with some quality deffense he struggles for space and cant make that crucial shift for our play, try putting messi on the wing and see what happens...(getafe run, real run) The only problem is what our squad wants from him bcs he can play anywhere on the pitch and still be the best palyer in the world, something nor Cristina or someone else ever had...Ultimate footballer...

He often beats his opponent with pace on the outside. Iv'e personally never witnessed another player dribble as good as Messi. But to each their own, there is no reason why both players can't receive enormous praise.

Anyways back on topic Iniesta currently leads Barcelona's assist table. I personally think he's playing the best football of his career right now. It's a shame that he probably won't be considered for this years Ballon dor and next years either unless he can have a great year for both Barcelona and Spain.

Well Iniesta was the best player on the field when you look the whole picture but no one on that field was able to do what messi did, carry his team with the best decisive moves when needed.....Iniesta is Scotty Pippen always will be ;)

Does it really matter if a player is 'entertaining' or 'boring'? What matters is, get results. And both Iniesta and Messi get results.

Two great finishes aside, particularly the first, Messi was quite wasteful and was dispossessed more than usual.

If Iniesta's volley goes in, he gets the plaudits. But he ran the show with Xavi, winning tackles, creating space and driving the team forward with his dribbling and decisive passing.

The Don. :worthy:
