Andrés Iniesta

Was talking about the return leg in the CL in which Pique was injured and Masch was ball watching for Koke's goal. In that game (horrible game), Iniesta was the best player relative to the rest of the team. He was the best in the home leg as well.

I even conceded earlier that he was poor in the league vs. Atletico (although 1st game he only even played one half and did pretty well), and in the Supercup he wasn't brilliant in the 2nd leg either.

Iniesta was shocking in the away leg against Atletico, he was the best player on the park against them in the home leg for his performance in second half. But he really was awful away to Atletico in the CL as he was in all the games bar that home CL tie.

OK didn't know you were talking about CL return leg. Even for that game, I would put Neymar and Alba in front of Iniesta.

On a personal level, i doubt Iniesta himself will be happy with the season he had.
He was no where to be found in the 1st half of the season, which if i may add is when Barca gathered so much points in the league to the point where despite being not so good in the 2nd half of the season, could still compete till the final day.
In the 2nd half of the season, his great games (when we actually got to see the great Iniesta) were against City, in the CL 1st leg against Athleti and in the 2nd la liga classico. Basically 4 "great games" from him.

Definitely a season to forget for Him both on a personal level and on the team level.

He was not by any means "shocking". There was a limit to how good he could've done given how badly the team did, and he was our best player by relative comparison (or among them).

Just because he can't always shred a league winning, CL finalist defensive system to pieces doesn't mean he was "poor in big games". None of our midfielders or attackers had an easy time breaking them down.

Overall he was amazing or at least above the average team performance in: 2 games vs. City in CL, 2 games vs Madrid in league, 2 games vs Atletico in CL

Games in which he underperformed relative to teammates: CDR final (barely below team average), 2nd League match vs. Atletico, 2nd leg of Supercopa

Ok/non-notable performances: 1st leg Supercopa, 1st league match vs Atletico

That's a total of 6 good, 3 bad, and 2 inconclusive. Hell if you discount Supercopa given its lack of importance, that's only 2 bad big games. Yet predictably you'll say otherwise due to your agenda for opposing any general opinion and it'll drag on forever.

I could see the logic there as they both put in a lot of effort for that match. Still, Iniesta did well in terms of dribbling and did try to create things. Matter of opinion there.

NO. i mean iniesta is by far our best player this season. i can't think off a single game where he wasn't in the top 3 MOTM (maybe first month of the season). thing i love most about iniesta this season and most of last season is he's developed some amazing consistency and performs at his level no matter how dogshit the rest of the team is.

i may be completely biased cause i fan boy big tiem

Wow, if anything, Andres lack of consistency compared to someone like Xavi at the same age is the part of reason the team hasn't coped with the aging of Xavi on a consistent basis. Fact is all he has to do in an entire game sometimes is a a few shimmies or croquetas and in come the ":worthy: MOTM, season and universe".

Go back on this thread on and read how people thought he played in that game... yet you think he was Barca's best player. Or look at the MOTM... no mention of Iniesta as one of Barcas best three players.

The fact that you still maintain he was Barcas best player in this game just shows how poor your memory of the game and other games is.

Try and use stats to show he was good in the big games.

Stats also support, Alves, Neymar and Ronaldo in the big games when in reality all three were average at best. Perhaps thats a bit unfair on Neymar.

6 good, 3 bad, and 2 inconclusive

Thats by your judgement which I have said is terrible. See away Atletico CL game as example.

I thought Iniesta was the best Barca player in the Atletico UCL 1-0 defeat by far, when the team as a whole was really poor. I thought he also played well in the 1-1, but there were also other good performances in that game, Neymar was pretty good in that game.

My judgement is terrible oh almighty Jamdav :worthy: DAT infallible opinion, might as well call it fact right???

Not in comparison to my judgement but what people on here were stating after the game you are speaking about. Claiming Iniesta to be the best player in a game he was very poor in.

You question my opinion all the time...I question yours it happens love. Get over it.
