Saul fits the profile we need and would complement De Jong and Pedri very well imo. The problem is Griezmann is the more valuable player and Atletico would need to add some cash to make it a good deal for us.

It does seem unlikely yes, although SPORT claiming Barca want at least 15m in addition to Saul.

If Liverpool is indeed interested, I would have loved a 3 way deal where Saul ends up in Anfield, Griezmann in Madrid and us getting cash from both sides.

That was never going to happen.

And it didn't. If we had a stronger hand we could have been firmer though.

Anyways not huge on Saul but gives us that coveted midfield depth we lack.

In our setup I don't see too much of a level difference between Depay and Griezmann. Depay may even fit better while we now don't need to worry about Griezmann being on the bench if he doesn't fit, nor Depay being on the bench if Ansu returns to form. So a win-win on that regard.

In an ideal world, Atletico would have sold Saul to Liverpool for 40-50m and signed Griezmann back from us for 50-60m, while we got Wijnaldum on a free.

But there is no doubt in my mind that Saul has the potential to give us more good years if he manages to fit. He may be one of those players who explodes once again, after being put into a team that plays possession. Like a thot with fresh breast implants.

And contract length, Saul has 5 years left in his contract. That is very long time for a risky deal

Possibly but could see it being that but Barca pay part of salary.

Barca get the cash now and 'repays' it over next 3 years.

Pure guess work and just stabbing at some kind of deal not quite what it seems at face value.

Atleti know the position Barca are in and cant see why they woul agree to give cash.
