True, but at least you don't give Griezmann to Atletico and strengthen them.

Nobody wants them.

It's certainly not ideal and I'm not 100% in favour of this deal, but we have to make drastic decisions. If no other team is willing to sign Griezmann on a permanent deal, or if he's willing to cause problems for us by saying he'll only go to Atletico then we have very little options.

Messi must be an idiot. He'd be signing with a sort of nothing squad. Griezmann, as underwhelming as he is, was one of our better performers. Not to mention that after two more mighty years of Messi, we end up with a drained squad. Both financially and quality-wise. I'm utterly disappointed with this deal.

At this rate Aguero might be indirectly the best transfer of this season. :coffee:

I am on the fence about it too, and I admit I haven't seen Saul play that much last season. But in the previous seasons, he seemed exactly what we lack. Fierce player, defensively solid, hard worker, and able to penetrate the lines and score goals.

But I rated Griezmann too. If only we could have made this swap with Dembele .

I don't think Messi holds his breath to play with Griezmann. They have zero synergies.

There's also this issue of Tebas claiming we can only re-invest 1/4 of a transfer fee we get.

So even if we sell Griezmann for 60m we can only re-invest 15m of that.

Be careful or you'll get called a hater.

Messi claimed he would stay for a sporting project, but he's most likely staying so he can go on dinner dates with his buddy Aguero. Messi cannot moan next season if we're struggling. But it is what is.

What's telling, based on what I've heard that is, is that Griezmann all of a sudden is happy to take a paycut, but only if it means he's leaving.
Not so happy if he stays here.

Telling how many players are so unattached and dispassionate, and ready to milk this club dry. Even a guy like Griez who was here 2 seasons with only aim being to play with Messi and bag an occasional Liga in the process.

Depay will be a lot better fit than Griezmann and he will play in the first 11. For depth we have to see if Demir can play some minutes.

We could bring Pedro back since he could become free. He could still put up the same numbers and workrate as Griezmann did for a lot less money. You guys overrate Griezmann (at least at Barca) a lot.

Not really all that telling.

He wants to go back to Ateltico it would seem.

If Depay works out and Fati stays fit we're good to go.

Depay obviously.

Don't know what Messi was told or promised, but seeing people being so mad about him staying makes him staying even much sweeter :coffee:
