How many times did he tackle, make interceptions or win the ball back though?

Probably a few times.

No one has ever questioned his effort on the pitch. With regards to that he's top class and the best one in the team.

But we didn't pay 120m + 30-40m per year gross for a player just that.

Defensive workrate is good but that's an extra for a forward not your main quality. Forwards with defensive workrate as their main quality play for teams like Alaves not Barcelona. He needs to be good at attacking first...

I'd rather have a Neymar with 0 workrate than a fucking Griezmann 10 times out of 10.

Would probably benefit us defensively as well. I am sure teams would push us less with someone like Neymar waiting upfront. With Griezmann it always looks like other teams simply don't mind and let him do whatever he wants in midfield.

His selfless runs benefits others. You have to look at the whole picture with him.

Griezmann just running around wasn't enough when Messi was still here to carry the offense on his own and it's certainly not enough now. We don't need a forward that plays like a fullback, we need actual threats up front.

He plays like a tactically worse Pedro, but unfortunately his partners are Depay/Braithwaite instead of Villa/Messi and there is no Xavi/Iniesta behind either so this kind of support role just doesn't get us anywhere.

We'd need Griezmann to actually do something meaningful with the ball and get into scoring positions himself more often but it seems like the "freedom" of not having Messi didn't lead to an increase in any of that at all.

We should consider benching him if his poor form continues. It might give him a kick up the arse to start performing again and to let him know there is competition for his spot and he can be dropped, something Koeman doesn't do giving all our seniors 'assurances' they will be key players and excluding the youth.

Griezmann has always been more of a defensive forward but he can do better than this so this shouldn't be acceptable. Unlike Braithwaite who we know should normally not play at Barca and just doesn't have the ability to play better Griezmann is underperforming.

His high salary is going to keep people in the management and board up several nights if he doesn't start performing.

Will be impossible to move on from him next summer.

Was already though to offload him this summer. I doubt we see his back at the doors before he decides it's time to move to the US.
