I doubt Messi is in such rough shape injury wise or he wouldn't have finished the Peru game? I'll be surprised if he doesn't start vs Ecuador.

I honestly think that Messi will start on the bench just to fully heal his injury.

The team has enough to beat this Ecuadorian side without Messi.

My lineup vs Ecuador

–------------------------Lautaro
Nico G.--------------------------------------Di Maria
—-------------MacA—---------------RDP
—-----------------------Enzo
Tags—-------Lisandro—----Romero—--Molina
—-----------------------Dibu

I expect Ecuador to be very physical, compact and defensive. With Messi not being fully 100% potentially, I’d rather put him in the bench and then sub him in if we need him. I don’t expect a lot of surprises from Scaloni and I think this is the team that he will put in. RDP, Lo Celso and Paredes are on yellow so they will need to be careful in this match not to get suspended if we do get to the SFs. Sub in the likes of Messi, Palacios, Alvarez, Paredes in the 2nd half.

Vamos!

Seems like Messi was able to train at the same level as the other teammates so high probability that he will be a starter in the lineup.

There are no extra time after the 90th minute and goes straight to penalty kicks. Hopefully, we can nick a quick goal here so that we don't have to be worry about penalty shootouts, although this team is a beast at it.

Vamos!

Now that Arg. are in the knockout stages, the fact that if it's tied at the 90th minute and goes straight to PKs worries me.

If Arg. does get into PK shootouts, I would sub in Montiel, Paredes, Palacios and have the following order.

Messi, Paredes, MacAllister, Montiel, Lautaro + Palacios as back up kicker.
