Villarato!
Well, the inclusion of Arda is what makes the deal work for us . We'd add Lenglet instead of Arda if you'd add Mendy instead of Modric.

Romanian negotiation masters lol.

Griezmann + Dembele + Lenglet + Arda + Roberto <-> Bale + Ceballos + Modrić + Casemiro + Odriozola

I really hope he is using this time to improve his fitness/stamina. Lately I have been thinking whatever if he could function in a Modric b2b role, I dont think he is suited for the Xavi role tbh but must admit that his close control and ball retention is elite. Maybe play him a bit higher on the pitch and let him receive between the lines and turn. Think it will suit him actually but need better fitness for now.

No way.

Look, in my opinion, you always need to take into the account player's natural skills.
Rakitic was CAM-CF turned into a hardworking midfielder.
But look, he had a nice level of attacking skills in early 20s, so he only had to learn in defensive skills and workrate.
And learning defense is easier than learning attacking skills.
Attacking skills is a gift which you are either born or not (some sort of a talent), while defending is more of a tactical skill and it could be learned over time.

So:
Rakitic had attacking talent naturally and then he trained in a defensive area to turn into an allrounder midfielder.
Modric, also played as some sort of a CAM in teen years and early 20s at Dinamo Zagreb.
He later turned into a b2b midfielder who is good at defending and workrate.

And then you have Arthur:
Who is horrible in the attacking area.
Since you can't "learn" the attacking talent, he can't improve in that area.
He can only improve in defending and workrate.
But since he is slow and has the worst stamina among all elite footballers younger than 25, I wouldn't expect too much of improvement in any area from him.

For a comparison, Arthur will be 24 in 3 Months.
He is not a kid anymore.
On the other hand, since you mentioned Modric, look at how Modric played aged 22 for Dinamo, against Ajax.
He was a CAM who was running like crazy, dribbling, shooting, assisting.
Then look at Arthur from Gremio or Barca, and all he is doing is getting the ball from our box into the opponent's half and doing nothing in the attacking 3rd.
So, when you see this young Modric, it was way easier to turn HIM into an allrounder b2b midfielder, than Arthur.
Can Arthur do any of this in the attacking 3rd?
Not to mention that Modric could run like crazy for 120 minutes since always.
Modric in 2007, aged 22:

To who should he pass through passes?

To Messi who plays in mifield, slow Suarez or another midfilder Griezmann?

We don't have players that use space
