You are putting far too much emphasis on how much clubs can develop players like Semedo. He is a limited player that is reason he is poor in final third.

Why has Pep not developed Danilo, Cancelo etc? Why did he not manage to develop many players previous to that like Bojan at Barca?

MATS has become arguably the best GK in world at points, Umtiti one of best CBs before injury, Neymar became one of best three players in world, Alba amongst best full backs in world at points. Players at Barca have improved but difficult to show that too often when core of team been same for years.

Arthur lacks a lot as well and put a young Xavi in this team and it would be night and day to what he would bring which Arthur doesnt and development is on the players as well... behave off pitch and show some intelligence to learn.

Instead Arthur is plagued by rumours of issues of pitch, picks up STDs, parties, snowboarding while injured etc.

Semedos out at a party with 20 other folk breaking the lockdown rules and worse... putting Barca season at risk.

The players acting like that probably shows a big reason why they are not developing as looked like could at first.... both seem a bit dumb and not doing what it takes

It would be so easy to develop his kicking of the ball and passing. I don't buy it. Some coach should tell him to work on these things. Nothing to do with limitations.

It wouldnt be easy. His awareness is terrible in final third and technique not great in build up.

Not a case of no one ever telling him to 'work on these things'.

Same coaches have players that can and cant play positions all the time.

It is all to do with his limitations.... as I said why cant Pep develop Cancelo, Danilo? Why if Semedo was one coach telling him to 'work on things' away from being best RB in world would there not be a clamour to sign him?

I still think Arthur has a bigger upside than Semedo. Another Xavi, no, it is unfair to ever expect that. I would be pleased if Arthur gets to be as good as Rakitic was during his best Barca years. How good he gets is mostly up to Arthur, no coach will stand in his way if he can show he deserves a regular place in the first 11.

It's easy to say Semedo should improve and that he is crap in the final third, but that would be completely disregarding the fact that we play with RW on paper that is not a RW. This blows up the whole dynamic of our right wing.

Arthur has already shown his high level of play.
It's not a question if he's good enough, but rather if he's consistent enough to play at his best every 3 days.

Messi not being on the right means that the RB has to show more going forward and Roberto in exact same set up has been far better than Semedo in doing that.

Both in the build up and final ball.

The set up for most part has tried to get the RB advanced and idea that midfield covers it.

Semedo just looks a bit clueless when it comes to that side of it.

All of these player developed under Lucho who was a strict coach and didn't take anything from the amigos. Name me a single player that is young and has developed well with Barca in the last three seasons. Fati? Kid barely gets any minutes now. He would have developed far better in a team like Man U or Arsenal

No they didnt... Alba, MATS and Umtiti were held up as being the best in the world under EV. Alba had been in and out of that conversation but had his best season last season and was held up then. Prior to that Marcelo and Alaba had been regarded as better for most of his time at Barca.

MATS and Umtiti both developed in last three seasons to at one point being held up as amongst best in world.

Fati is 17 and had a lot of minutes for a player his age at a club like Barca.

What? MATS played every single CL game in in his first season, in a CL semi and final arguably the biggest games that a European player can play. Umtiti appeared in more games in 16/17 under Lucho (43) than in all of his other seasons here. Sure, took them a few years to get the recognition but you can't say Lucho didn't develop them. EV did? Ha...

Fati played like a starting winger/CF in the few appearances he had. EV should've paid more attention to his development.

I m well aware MATS played CL... but he was not held up as best in world and even when Barca sold Bravo a lot on here thought Bravo the better keeper.

Then he was called out in season he did start for 'freezing' so often and again not held up as best in world which started to happen after 2017.

Same with Umtiti was never held as one of best in world until around half way through the 17/18 season and not long before got injured.

Fati git a lot of chances and did well under EV. There was nothing more that was needed for his development and he was 16/17.

I believe in Arthur and he's the closest we have in all top leagues currently to a Xavi/Iniesta like midfielder. The front office is very unforgiving to anyone that's not an amigo. It would be a huge mistake to let him go to any other team. It would be as huge as Pep letting Eto'o go. If we had a proper front office, player like Arthur, Semedo,Griezmann would thrive here.

There's Thiago, Bernardo Silva and Verratti who frankly Arthur isn't nearly as talented as. We've missed out on the real midfield gems for years (de Jong might break that trend)

There's reports claiming Setien told Arthur he doesn't count on him anymore. Setien confirmed he talked with Arthur about certain things in the Mallorca pre-match presser without divulging exactly what they talked about.
