Just do it the Rakitic-way. Refuse every offer you get and whine in the media about how bad the club is treating you.
I've been a fan of Arthur since we signed him. He started off incredibly promising and entertaining to watch, but since the injury last season he hasn't been the same, whether it be caused by footballing reasons or personal/off field. He is young enough, AND we attained him cheap enough that there is literally no reason to sell him. De Jong is also young and promising, and should be replacing Busquets completely next season. That leaves a role for Arthur as one of our two CMs.
Who should be in that third CM slot? Should it be us moving Messi to midfield and playing with two pacey, dangerous wingers out wide for width? With an pacey winger on the RW creating width our RB could play a bit more defensively to offset Messi's lack of defensive contribution.
Or is the answer Puig? He's young and I hate to bandwagon, but to me personally he's been the ONLY bright spark in midfield since prior to break, and ever since coming back from the break. Most importantly he has that desire, he wants to play. He wants to win. Many of our players have lost that fire. His movement alone is infectious. He cut in from the left last game and played an accurate, quick vertical pass while on the run. This got me excited. It is depressing that I can't even remember the last time ANY other midfielder has done something similar. Not De Jong, not Arthur, not Vidal and Busquets is just past it so I don't care. Is this their fault? Not entirely because they were never that type of player to begin with, so when we bought them we shouldn't have expected it.
IMO though, we need a player like Riqui. Playing alongside a strong all around player like Arthur and De Jong, a player that can do what Busquets does but also has strengths useful to the modern game (better pace, able to dribble into space) is our best bet. That is, if Messi stays as RW.
I think Messi as RW makes us all around a weaker team. He cant dribble by 3-4 players anymore, he can barely cut in past 2 players these days. Still an amazing player, he's just not THAT player anymore. We have to adapt, or continue to see results like yesterday. (not to say we don't have other problems, like Griezman not being a fucking winger and Suarez being total trash for years now).
