Just do it the Rakitic-way. Refuse every offer you get and whine in the media about how bad the club is treating you.

I've been a fan of Arthur since we signed him. He started off incredibly promising and entertaining to watch, but since the injury last season he hasn't been the same, whether it be caused by footballing reasons or personal/off field. He is young enough, AND we attained him cheap enough that there is literally no reason to sell him. De Jong is also young and promising, and should be replacing Busquets completely next season. That leaves a role for Arthur as one of our two CMs.

Who should be in that third CM slot? Should it be us moving Messi to midfield and playing with two pacey, dangerous wingers out wide for width? With an pacey winger on the RW creating width our RB could play a bit more defensively to offset Messi's lack of defensive contribution.

Or is the answer Puig? He's young and I hate to bandwagon, but to me personally he's been the ONLY bright spark in midfield since prior to break, and ever since coming back from the break. Most importantly he has that desire, he wants to play. He wants to win. Many of our players have lost that fire. His movement alone is infectious. He cut in from the left last game and played an accurate, quick vertical pass while on the run. This got me excited. It is depressing that I can't even remember the last time ANY other midfielder has done something similar. Not De Jong, not Arthur, not Vidal and Busquets is just past it so I don't care. Is this their fault? Not entirely because they were never that type of player to begin with, so when we bought them we shouldn't have expected it.

IMO though, we need a player like Riqui. Playing alongside a strong all around player like Arthur and De Jong, a player that can do what Busquets does but also has strengths useful to the modern game (better pace, able to dribble into space) is our best bet. That is, if Messi stays as RW.

I think Messi as RW makes us all around a weaker team. He cant dribble by 3-4 players anymore, he can barely cut in past 2 players these days. Still an amazing player, he's just not THAT player anymore. We have to adapt, or continue to see results like yesterday. (not to say we don't have other problems, like Griezman not being a fucking winger and Suarez being total trash for years now).

No one sane would swap a talented 23y old player for a 30y old player who is well past his prime. If this happens it will be another horrible decision by our club.

There are few reasons why this is crazy as it gets:

First, he is clearly slowing down and he for sure won't get any better in his thirties.

Second, paying 70 mil for a 30y old player is crazier than paying 120 mil for Dembele.

Finally, players in their thirties lose their speed and their stamina, furthermore they usually lose motivation. Because all of that they almost never adapt to a new club.

I thought we learned something from Arda case but we apparently didn't. If we want to get rid of Arthur I am fine with that. If that's the case we should cash him in and spend that money wisely and not on a 30y old player who is past his prime.

That being said, I would opt for Thiago over Pjanic any day of the week.

Our squad is too old and slow - lets replace one of our youngest players with a 30 year old.

We have some of the highest wages in Europe - let's replace one of our lowest earning players with a 30 year past it Pjanic on high wages.

Not to mention our stamina issues, lack of hunger, motivation etc. won't exactly be solved by a 30 year old.

Arthur is young and and slow and can barely last 90 mins.

What hunger or motivation does Arthur show with his behaviour off the park and his bland performances on it?

Barca are not losing anything this team needs by selling Arthur.

Need more mobile, positive players with better ability on ball than him regardless of he or Pjanic is in squad.

Who do you thinks is even wanting to spend cash on Arthur?

No top side is touching him even for 40-50m most likely.

Balancing the books. Nothing more.

Barca and Juve just give players that they don't rate high , they will exchange them and avoid problems.

Keep him and Puig for another year.
No need for Pjanic.
sell rakitic and Vidal instead.
With this board and leadership we can bring in Superman and he would loose all his powers.

Why would you bring that 30yo old man for 70mil value (lol) to Barcelona is beyond me. At least brin de bruyne If you still want to sell a young midfielder

Arthur has understood that he will no longer be Barcelona player next year. All day long, his agent stayed in touch with Paratici - Now It is just a question of 'a million more, a million less.' Within 48 hours, the deal should be unlocked. @DiMarzio

Juventus have reached a principle of agreement with Arthur. The midfielder is promised a big salary raise and a lucrative sporting project. Miralem Pjanic, currently at Juve, will join Barcelona. [espn]

hes gone, I cannot believe me eyes. This is the most retarded deal in the clubs history.

Won't believe it until I see it's official. Might fall apart in the end like Dembele to PSG transfer because Arthur wants to "prove his worth."

Selling Arthur and buying Pjanic is already pretty dumb looking at the average age of the midfield but if they only end up with a tiny plus it's even worse. It sounds like a joke but it looks like it's actually happening.

Fuck this board and their shady "balancing the books" deals. And we all know it's not even Corona, it's just their bad management. Buying expensive misfits every year but scrambling for some inflated swaps in June to just get by, truly amazing business.

Anyone know what sell-on clause Gremio retained on Arthur?

I read something about them having one but can't find the exact figures.

If true, then it will make the bogus balancing the books sale of 80m even more bogus as after signing Pjanic for 70m we may in effective lose money on the deal- all parts considered.
